Crypto.com: High Interest Rates & Cashback Rewards

I have been using Crypto.com for over a year now and it has made a dramatic difference in my day to day spending and saving habits, with how popular this platform has recently become I felt it that was time for me to finally write a post about it, this is my favorite crypto platform after all. 

I started with the Ruby Steel card to use for dipping my toes into crypto but after only a month of using the card I upgraded to Jade/Indigo because it felt like the right fit for me. I wanted those rebates for Spotify and Netflix saves me $323.76 per year because it saves me, when you factor in the 10% card stake then my card is giving me back 18.1% on my initial investment per year in the form of interest and rebates.

What is Crypto.com?

Crypto.com is a cryptocurrency exchange that has been around since 2016 but has recently started rapidly expanding over the last year. According to the company's website their business is built on a solid foundation of security, privacy and regulatory compliance. Crypto.com has been officially recognized by security consulting and auditing firms globally.

Cryptocurrencies are held offline in cold storage and insured for up to $750,000, fiat currencies are held in regulated custodian bank accounts and insured for up to $250,000.

Crypto.com offers a pre-paid Visa debit card which gives 1-8% cashback in the form of CRO depending on which rewards tier you have unlocked.

Staking CRO to get the Visa Debit Card locks the funds for 180 days, once your staked CRO is unlocked you have the option to unstake but you are not forced to. If the value of CRO has gone up since you first staked then you can unstake and restake to free up the extra CRO, if the value goes down then you are not forced to unstake and can maintain your card tier benefits for as long as you like.

The Crypto.com App has a feature called Crypto Earn that allows you to earn interest on your cryptocurrency holdings. Interest is paid out in weekly intervals and locking the currency into longer terms pays higher rates.

My personal strategy when using Crypto Earns is to use multiple 3-month terms spaced out either monthly or bi-weekly, this allows me to compound the interest from each term into the new one every time I am rewewing one. For Bitcoin and Ethereum I like to use 3x 3-month terms and for USDC I prefer to create them Bi-weekly.

With Jade/Indigo I get 12% interest on USDC which is 80 times better than the 0.15% that my bank offers me for my savings account, even better when you consider the interest is paid out at weekly intervals instead of monthly. For Bitcoin and Ethereum I am earning 6.5% which is pretty high compared to what other platforms offer right now.

Upgrading to Icy White or Rose Gold will add +2% onto each crypto earn term paid in CRO which effectively turns that 12% USDC interest up to 14% and 8.5% for BTC and ETH.

Final Thoughts

I have been loving my Crypto.com card so far, before staking I was paying for Spotify premium out of pocket every month and wasn't earning any interest on my fiat held in my bank. Ever since I got started with Crypto.com I have been saving money differently and it's made a huge impact on the financial aspects of my life.

When the exchange launches in the USA things will only get better for CRO, staking now while it is below $1 is kind of a steal considering how much more CRO will be locked up in the future as more and more users continue staking into the card, exchange and DeFi protocols.
