The island of Jeju(South Korean island) is known for its divers, or "sea women" as they are called locally. These women support their families by diving to the bottom of the sea in search of various salable items. These include abalone mollusks, fungi, scallops, sea snails and algae. Sometimes they also report squid and squid. Divers start training around the age of fifteen and reach senior diving in about ten years. Even if they sink to a depth of 12 meters, they only wear small glasses, no other artificial aid.
These women stay underwater for up to three minutes and have the incredible ability to continue working even in the cold. It is not uncommon for winter tourists to visit the exposed northern end of the island of Cheju and take pictures of the girls who dive when the snow falls.
