Music connects us to what is important, it can help us reflect upon emotions or motivate us to act with decisiveness! As you started your day you might not have thought about it but you secretly wanted to hear these songs listed below, don’t ask me how I know this I just do. Well, as the kind knight that I am I’ve got you covered, because here they are:

Ott Lepland - Kuula

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSQdnvzV8CE

This is a song about being aware so that you can notice things. 'Kuula' or 'Listen' is a song about taking a break from what you are doing in order to listen. It is only by actively listening to someone that you can meet them halfway in mutual understanding. And also, by not being constantly occupied with your thoughts and problems you can overcome adversity, silence allows us to reorient ourselves and it by listening that we search and explore our world.

Today it's quite easy to fill your life with constant noise but silence is also important. In any relationship it isn't all about what is said between you but also the silent moments you share.

A perfect serious and calm yet powerful song to start off this list with as we will pick up a bit in tempo and tone.

Eagle-Eye Cherry - Long Way Around

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afa-G_49BvY

You don't have to aim to be a perfect saint, instead, aim to be genuine and have leave room for feel empathy for others. “People will always take the long way around, before you know it you'll be lost and found.”, Eagle-Eye speaks of patience with other people as well as yourself, something very relevant in our day and age when it comes to the ever increasing list of loaded political issues in the world.

Allow yourself to go with the flow, since "all we have is today.", the singer also encourages the listener to be themselves and not ignore their dreams, embrace their views on the world even if other people don't fully understand. "Stand where you want to stand and I'll believe when I can."

It's a charming song about having tolerance to your fellow travelers in the world.

Hey Ocean! - Make a New Dance Up

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoNzu25hZjA

Hands down one of my favorite songs out there! How can can you not listen to this without starting to wiggle your butt or something other? It's a simple song about falling in love, cute and innocent. It speaks of the creativity that goes along with falling in love. The sense of exploration and discovering something unique and special with someone.

Finding out in what way you are compatible with a person you admire is a magical thing after all!

Mr. Oizo - Hand in the Fire

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ad6SxduZfis

For a long time I've been certain that this song holds some deep metaphor of some sort. It's a catchy song but the video contains these two teddy bears who take turns expressing their mutual feelings towards each other. Since there is only one wig they can only make their confessions one at a time.

The feminine one exposes itself and it's interest, the masculine one just takes in this information. To share these feelings the feminine one has to drive up from behind to the masculine one, but after that the teddy bear continues on. If we let the position of the cars represent status the feminine with the emotions start out behind but then transcends masculinity by bravely sharing it's mind. It is quite innocent at first, talking about the other teddy bear being 'the one' but as the feminine one drives past and beyond it becomes sexual and it ends up losing the wig, becoming the masculine and the other now driving behind catches the wig in order to become the feminine. And so the cycle starts over.

We all have feminine and masculine sides to us and I can't help but thinking that this music video is talking about the relationship between these sides within us. The psychologist Carl Jung spoke of feminine and masculine archetypes that each contains a little of the other within. And it is important because it helps us relate to the other sex and decides what we find attractive in them. Well, perhaps this is an analysis that can be done at a future date, though this song is quite silly so it probably doesn't warrant more analysis than this, or does it?

Viewtiful Joe – Brighter Side

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfeFeemQil0

Speaking of silly, leave such things to the Japanese to produce! Viewtiful Joe has a beautiful outlook on the world, even if his girlfriend gets kidnapped he is happy because it allows him to be a hero and save her, this makes him Viewtiful.

We can't always choose the situations we find ourselves in but I've always had the perspective that no matter how well off you seem to be you can always find something that bothers and frustrates you yet no matter how poor and unhealthy you are you can still always find something to be glad about. We humans have an incredible ability for creativity and the way we value reality is an creative process. Brighter side encapsulates this idea in a funny but sincere way. It is a song about optimism and it specifically speaks to the listener, that it is cool to be cheerful along with a happy and hopeful wish that “I'll think you'll see a brighter side!”.

Optimism is just precisely that, you may not be able to state something in concrete terms but you allow yourself to trust that things can be better, after all “What is hard to see, can become reality”. If nothing else your outlook on the world could evolve, I for one am sure that there is always beauty somewhere to be found as long as we are willing to look for it.

And so this small list of songs comes to an end and I wish you all a viewtiful day!

I abide with the saying, "Music is my medicine." Listening to music really helps me to feel relaxed especially when I am filled with too much stress, mostly at work and in everyday life.😊
