I know devs have to make money so they overpower characters. In this case, the waifus.
Why waifu only? Xiao seems very balanced to me. He deals the best dps in the game but at the cost of HP management and you can't get energy recharge while his burst is on preventing a 100% ult uptime. He's melee so he needs to get close to the enemy and expose himself to do damage. This is another disadvantage because he's squishy. He's also not as good as other anemo characters in terms of support which makes him a purely dps character. You have to play by his strengths which makes him a lot less braindead than Qixing secretary.
There is a bias on waifus in this game but that is for another topic. This thread is about how Hu Tao is better than Ganyu (or everyone else for that matter).
Hu Tao on the other hand is a broken character done right. Why broken character done right you ask? The character herself is not broken but the weapon. The weapon is limited and only 35% chance of getting so you need to spend money to maximize your Hu Tao. Hence, she's only broken to whales.
She also needs a shielder and healer to perform well making her not braindead unlike Qixing secretary.
Ganyu on the other hand is just big numbers big numbers big numbers. Broken. Devs, no need to think just give her everything. DPS? No problem. She's one of the best. Support? She can do that too. Do you need a 5 star weapon to make her broken? No not really. But, but you have to aim. Nope, no need to aim. Just hit the ground and you do damage. Energy recharge problems like Xiao? Nope, she can gain energy while her ult is on. Lasts 15s and 15s cooldown. 100% uptime. Oh and it freezes too.
Oh my gosh, I'm so good at playing Genshin Impact because I exert a tiny effort by aiming with a broken character. She's definitely not braindead because you need to exert tiny effort to play her.
Devs just want Ganyu to be popular by making her broken. It backfired loololol because a lot of people hate her now. So many people who will skip her banner in her eventual rerun. There are a few ofcourse that will pull for her but they're the minority.
