Security of our homes depends on a key which opens the door and the said keys are usually small metal objects that can be easily lost. Technology today, such as cell phones, uses more convenient key alternatives such as fingerprints. Various kinds of locks and security systems have been invented throughout history, as it was needed to keep people and their belongings safe. Locking systems were seen as early as 2000 B.C, Egyptians already developed pin and tumbler locks made out of wood. This lock system remained unchanged throughout the middle ages (Elid Technology International Inc.,n.d).

People nowadays are facing problems regarding the security of their homes all around the world. And because of that, security gains higher and higher importance in the recent years. Security holds a significant role in our life and assets. But even with the use of mechanical locks, the crime, robberies still occur because of the fact that these sorts of locks were easily broken. That is why there is a need to create locks which cannot be easily broken. Biometric based system reduces the chances of error in other human recognition methods and clarifies the problems which were faced in the fingerprint recognition. This type of locks is often used on bank lockers. But nowadays new advanced door lock security systems use the pattern of the human iris for providing a high level of security. In today’s technologically advanced world, the need for advanced door lock security system increases day by day as security becomes a serious issue for everybody.

According to an article by Locksmith Services, Door locks are essential, for it provide security for homes and businesses. These locks keep intruders outside, away from people's belongings and themselves.

Even though locks are an importance in almost every home and business, maintenance on it is commonly unchecked. Like all mechanical devices, locks break down over time. Sometimes overuse wears down essential components. Other times, locks degrade because they are not used enough, just like how a car battery loses power if the vehicle remains off for long periods of time.

Home security is essential that we should consider keeping our families and communities safe. Deadbolts are a staple of home security, and they work tirelessly. A deadbolt is a locking mechanism that is engaged by the turning of a key to extend or retract the bolt. Deadbolts are classified into three grades that rank from Grade 3 to Grade 1.

According to Reed (2017), the three grades have differences in how much endurance and more secure they are. Firstly the grade 3, which can endure up to 2, 75-pound stikes against it or 1, 150-pound strike and much safe than deadbolt locks that are not graded. Secondly, grade 2 that can withstand more force than grade 3. It can withstand up to 5, 75-pound strikes. Lastly, grade 1 the most effective deadbolt locks; it can endure approximately 1 million rotation cycles and withstand a minimum of 10, 75-pound, strikes which are reported to be the equivalent of over 100-foot pounds

Due to the threat to one’s life and properties the need for security (lock) system has evolved with technological advancement. This security system is necessary, particularly in places such as houses, offices, and banks. That is why intellectual security are developed and implemented. There are different types of intellectual security created in order to improve security, such as the radio-frequency identification (RFID) which uses cards for identification (Geoffrey, 2012). Even if this security system has minimal error, due to not having a registration mode, no true user identification system and notification system in case of an intruder it would still require a lot of improvement. Another example is the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM). A mobile phone is interfaced with the microcontroller through a Bluetooth device in order to control the system. It is a reliable system due to the fact that it is bi- modal (parallel) nature, but the system lacks code registration mechanism and the microcontroller program lacks auto generated code routine. Another example is a biometric locker system. It is a simple and reliable way of safeguarding a lock system, but the system has no registration mode mechanism to register finger pattern of new user.

According to Robyn Powell (2010), technology has a big impact in our daily living. Door access and monitoring system have been part of vital growth of technologies across the globe.Year 1960 was the first time that electronic door access control system is practiced to eliminate problems with regards to the lost keys which give way to allow and restrict the access of someone and to be able to generate reports on people's "comings and goings" or simply the monitoring of the transaction of the particular area (kerysis.com).

Technology nowadays is needed by individual because it can help us to ensure our security especially on our homes. Includes security door lock system and this kind of security can helps people to avoid having problems regarding losing the keys of their house.

From time to time, issues with the manual door lock system can cause trouble to owners. These door and lock issues can grow into larger problem, especially with trespassing. According to Smart Locksmith (2019), these are the most common door lock system problems that could be encountered. The key might get stuck or broken inside the lock due to misaligned door latch or unlubricated parts of latch. Slow door locks might be a possible problem caused by dirt and accumulated dust inside the lock. Misaligned door latch makes thedoor difficult to shut and it can be caused by improper installment, damp weather conditions and heat.

These problems are often difficult to be addressed by locksmiths. It causes hassle to owners. Most door problems are mechanical and they become faulty with time. Old locks may be problematic because of excessive use, and non-maintenance of the locks can make them defective. Since these problems are always possible, changing from manual to automated door lock systems are highly recommended. By continuing the usage of manual door locks, users are guaranteed to encounter these problems. However, in using automated door locks, users will not have these problems caused by manual door lock, which can give a more efficient solution and security.
