Meaning: A disease caused by a plasmodium parasite, transmitted by the bite of infected mosquitoes.
The severity of malaria varies based on the species of plasmodium
How it spreads
1.) By animals or insects bites or stings
2.) By blood products (unclean needles or unscreened blood)
SYMPTOMS (require a medical diagnosis)
The symptoms are :chills, fever, and sweating, usually occurring a few weeks after being bitten.
TREATMENTS
Treatments consists of anti-parasitics and antibiotics
Types of antibiotics drugs
1.) metronidazole (flagyl). metronidazole is the most commonly used antibiotic for Guardia infection.
2.) Tindazole (tindamax). yindazole works as well as metronidazole and has many of the same side effects, but it can be given in a single dose.
Note: malaria causes more than three hundred million acute illness and kills at least one million people every year. Ninety percent of deaths due to malaria occur in Africa, south of the the sahara, and most deaths occur in children under the age of five
