Learn to Deal With Expectations and Make Peace With Reality
This world doesn't work for you. You work to live in this world. As long as you live, as long as you work. You work because you have hope. You spread that hope with plans. You may have many plans. From big plans to change the world to small things going to your favorite cafe to just enjoy a cup of hot coffee.
Unfortunately, reality cannot guarantee that all your expectations will come true. The world doesn't work like Doraemon's magic bag, which every nobita wants, this can be realized with a magic bag. There will always be your plans that fail, there will always be your hopes that don't come true.
You want to change the world, while the world is too big for you to be nothing. The role of changing the world is taken by someone else. You are just a spectator. Yes, that's the reality.
Let alone big plans about changing the world, your small simple plans can fall apart without you being able to do anything about it. You are determined to spend your weekend relaxing at your favorite cafe. You leave in the afternoon, when you get there your favorite cafe is closed because the owner is in a disaster. You can't protest. You're just a regular customer. Your little plans fell apart.
Then you have to realize that this reality is cruel. Reality will not listen to your whining. You can curse and be angry with this world. Unfortunately this world doesn't care. It keeps turning and going. So cursing, complaining or swearing is not a solution. All you have to do is come to terms with reality. Realizing reality doesn't have to match your expectations.
Not only realize, but also get used to it. That you may fail in executing your plan. You failed in love matters. You're late for work. You missed your morning train. Your work is not appreciated by many people. All of that can always happen. You just have to get used to it.
Getting used doesn't mean enjoying failure. But learn from that failure. Your mentality is different when you meet failure. Your mentality is much better prepared when reality doesn't live up to expectations. That way, you can be more alert to face reality. Either by making a plan B or lowering your expectations. At this stage you are finally starting to learn to deal with expectations and come to terms with reality.
