Often times majority enter into marriage without knowing the purpose for such engagement, this wrong knowledge about the purpose of marriage has led to so many trouble in marriages today.
The rate of divorce today is alarming, suicide and domestic violence are on the increase. All of these are because the purpose of such life engagement are not known. If known at all, either it has been abused or completely ignored.
To correct all the vices and maladies in marriages today, the purpose of such life engagement must be well taught and understood. Though there are pockets of marriage circus and training classes here and there, none has been able to state and teach intending couples what the purpose of marriage is all about. This is because the compadum of wisdom where marriage was birthing has never been consulted in any of these circus or classes.
How can we know the purpose of a thing without consulting the one who created it. To understand the purpose of marriage we must go back to the foundation of wisdom behind marriage.
God in his infinite wisdom instituted marriage for a purpose. In Gen 2:18, it reads " And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; i will make him a help meet for him". From the scripture quoted above we can see that the first reason or purpose for marriage was to solve the problem of loneliness. Marriage is meant to share ones heart felt.loneliness is a killer desease, hence having a wife is the cure for such. This is the reason why when communication dies in a marriage, such marriage is as good as dead.
Marriage is companionship, untill your spouse becomes your companion you are not yet married. Any marriage that lack companionship will experience a lot of setbacks. Your spouse must be your best friend.
Furthermore, we can also see another purpose of marriage from the scripture quoted earlier, " I will make him a help meet for him". God knows that the best way to be a companion is to be of help. The second purpose of marriage is to have a help meet or to be a help meet for him. Every woman must know this, you are meant to be a help meet to your man. And every man must also know that the woman is there as a helper in crucial times. Ladies must know that marriage is not an escape from fending for oneself . You don't go into marriage because you want someone who can carry your burden. You must be prepared to help your man achieve his dream and aspirations in life and destiny. This is why you are getting married. If you cannot help him, you cannot wife him.
This is against the popular believe that marriage is solely for conjugal groove. Though sexual groove is an integral part of the deal yet it is impossible to have a smooth ride when companionship is missing. And to be a good companion, one must be a helper. Both man and woman have a deal here. If there is no surport for one and another, sex in marriage becomes boring and uninteresting.
Having kids is not a purpose in marriage but a blessing. The presence of kids should not kill the groove of companionship and intimacy in marriage. Couples must understand this and live together for it.
