Hello everyone good day so as I always said, another day another history topic to be publish and this is about the War Atrocities.
Let's get started.
Shortly after the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941, Japanese Americans were suspected of spying in U.S. soil. Under President Franklin Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9066 in 1942, citizens of Japanese descent were forced to relocate to detention centers. ⠀
⠀
Around 120,000 Japanese Americans were affected by the mass exclusion program, many of whom were born in the U.S. Their banks were frozen, and many had to sell or dispose of their properties. They were housed together with their families in strictly guarded relocation centers. While there were schools, post offices, and farmland inside these camps, they still experienced food shortages, overcrowding, and poor hygiene. There were also a few instances were escapees were shot and killed.⠀
⠀
These internment camps ended in 1945. President Gerald Ford repealed Executive Order 9066 in 1976 and $20,000 was awarded to each former internee in 1988. The U.S. government also issued an apology and concluded that the internment was based on race prejudice, war hysteria, and a failure of political leadership. ⠀
⠀
Cite another war atrocities.⠀
