There was a little boy in a small community where everybody knows each other. This little boy was known by all to be selfish and always grabbing everything for himself.

As time goes by, other little children in the community refuse to relate with him because of his selfish character and he was left with no friend. He was always alone. He criticize others for this and refuse to accept that it was his fault.

This gave his father a lot of concern and his father decided to do something about it. One day, his father made food for the two of them, two plates of noodles it was. There was one egg on one of the plates of noodles and nothing was on the other plate. He called the little boy and told him to choose one plate. Of course, the boy chose the plate that had egg on it and he was very happy to have chosen the plate with egg. When they started eating, to his surprise his father's plate had two eggs at the bottom of the plate under the noodles. He was sad and blamed himself for his hasty decision.

The next day, the father again made two plates of noodles just like the other time. A plate had one egg on top of the noodles and the other plate had nothing on top of the noodles. The father again asked the little boy to pick one plate. He remembered what happened the previous day and he decided to pick the plate with nothing on top. He thought he was smarter by choosing the plate with nothing on top but to his surprise, he found nothing even under the noodles at the bottom of the plate. Again, he was sad for making a wrong decision.

On the third day, the father made two plates of noddles as usual, one with egg on top and the other with nothing on top. The man called the little boy and asked him to pick one as usual but the little boy told the father to choose first this time around. The boy said that the father is the head and should choose first. The father was very happy that the boy had learnt his lesson and he chose the plate that had one egg on top for the little boy. Lo and behold as the little boy was eating, he found two more eggs at the bottom of the plate under the noodles. He was happy and promise his father never to be selfish again.

Lessons from this story.

  1. We should note that anybody that always think of taking advantage of others will always end up losing.

  2. Also, if you always think good of others and put them first, good things will always naturally happen to you.

Your joy will complete when you put others first and think good of them.

1 Corinthians 10:24

Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor
