Romans 12:16-21 KJV
[16] Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
[17] Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
[18] If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
[19] Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
[20] Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
[21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
In a compound, there lived a woman who always have serious misunderstanding with other neighbours in the compound. One day, the woman prepared a meal with poison to give to the neighbour’s children when they come back from school but unfortunately, her children (two boys and one girl) came back from school first. They ate the food and died.
Paul said in the passage above that “If possible, we should live at peace with all”. Jesus pronounced a blessing on peacemakers.
Matthew 5:9 KJV
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
As Christians, we are to coexist with everyone peacefully. By our mere character and how we show love, neighbours should be able to know us as a believer. Spiritual and social prudence in the way we think of and deal with others are involve in living a harmonious life.
Jesus also perceived that pride is the most dangerous enemy of social harmony and genuine love. Pride is the tendency not to relate with people we feel are low to our status.
As Christians, we should live by what we preach. We should live together with others in harmony and in agreement to live up to what we are called which is child of God. Living in agreement with people is a powerful weapon to win the soul of an unbeliever to Christ.
Those who live in harmony are wise children of God. How long will you continue to live a hypocritical life? I want to urge you all to read the whole of Psalm 133, act and pray on it. I pray may God give us all the heart to live in harmony with everyone in Jesus Name.
Psalm 133:1-3 KJV
[1] Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
[2] It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
[3] As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
