Romans 12:9-15 KJV
[9] Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. [10] Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; [11] Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; [12] Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; [13] Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. [14] Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. [15] Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

There is a story of a man who believed that his wife loved him so much that she cannot do anything to hurt him. One day, his friend told him something to do to test the genuineness of his wife’s love for him. He went to the farm one day and buried the bunch of banana that he cut. When he got home, he told his wife that a man attacked him in the farm and while defending himself, he killed the man and buried him. He told his wife not to tell anyone. One day when they had a serious misunderstanding, the woman came out publicly and said, “Do you think you will kill me as that man you killed and buried in the farm?”

Genuine love for one another is a call for a peaceful attitude and co-existence in the church and in the society at large. A genuine love and non-hypocritical love is the most important virtue for a harmonious life.

In the above passage, Paul focused on how we should react as Christians to the emotions of others, both Christians and non-Christians. The question that most people keep asking is that: how do we demonstrate love in this hostile world?

In order to do this, Paul urged Christians to bless those who persecute them, emphasizing on the need for us to bless and not to curse. With this kind of response, we will be able to show people both inside and outside that we have genuine love that is not the same with the type that the world offers.

Anybody that wants to be loved must love others. The genuine love you show to others can bring them to Christ. Let the love come from the heart and not by mere words alone.

I pray that God will grant us all the spirit to love everyone genuinely, in Jesus’ Name.

Thanks for Dropping By !
