History itself has different meanings according to the opinion of experts. But if in general history can be interpreted in Greek it is called historia which means to investigate, knowledge obtained from research.
The term history literally comes from the Arabic language, namely sajaratun which means tree. Meanwhile, in Arabic history is known as date and in German, history is known as geschichte. The understanding of history in both languages is the study of the past, especially how it relates to humans.
The importance of studying history
Learning history is also often underestimated by some people because it is not considered important and boring. But actually learning history is actually really fun.
The benefits of studying history are as follows
1. Open insight
By studying history we will have a broader view of the world, by studying history we can also see a different point of view on every problem that occurs, then we can see how the problem can occur and we can assume what will happen as a result of the problem.
So that we can understand what is going on around us. From history we can also learn the ins and outs of living things or objects, then we don't just look at an object from how it functions, but we will understand how it was created.
2. Train to be more critical
By studying history a lot usually we will be more curious about what we read, especially if there are cases that make us curious can be objects or people, for example "who actually created the first airplane?".
These questions will lead us to think critically, and we will definitely find out about the correct answers to these questions. And there are many truths in history that are still hot to discuss and valid answers are needed to find.
3. We can feel the event in the past
During history lessons, we are definitely invited to imagine the incident, we can feel how the conditions were at that time, so we seem to have entered the space and time of the past.
Surely we will imagine how the events that we read happened, this is like a recreation to the past, maybe we can even comment on the good and bad of the history that we study. And most importantly we can take lessons from what we learn.
4. Appreciate history more
It can be concluded that history is something that is very valuable, because from history we can evaluate it to improve the future for the better, and we can avoid mistakes that have been made in the past which can be avoided from repeating.
5. History as a source of inspiration
Studying history can also be used as inspiration to reach for the future, there are many events in history that can be used as lessons to make decisions in the future. Usually we get this from people's stories or what we learn from history.
By studying history we can take the good examples and leave the bad ones behind. Because our limited age will not have time to learn all experiences. Therefore we can learn through history.
And that's the understanding and some of the benefits of the importance of us studying history. We must care and be willing to learn about anything because by learning we can take lessons for our lives.
