There are several ways to maintain the health of our eyes and here's what you need to do
1. Check your eyes regularly
Starting from children and people who are elderly, if you want to know the health of their eyes, they must regularly go to the doctor to check their eye health at least every 2 years.
It aims to prevent disease by n increasing age such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts. In addition, eye examinations are also important if you have eye diseases that are passed down from genetics from parents to children.
2. Eat nutritious food
To consume eye health, it is recommended to eat foods that contain lots of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, lutein, selenium and omega 3 fatty acids.
Some of the nutrients above can ward off age-related eye problems such as cataracts and macular degeneration. You can also eat vegetables, tuna, salmon, eggs, carrots, beans and oranges to get vitamins as described above.
3. Avoid using your smartphone for too long
Staring at a smartphone or staring at a computer for too long can also make our eyes tired. Symptoms can include headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain, dry eyes and blurred vision.
if your eyes start to hurt or dry eyes, you can blink your eyes, use eye drops, stop staring at your monitor or smartphone and rest first.
4. Avoid exposure to ultraviolet rays
We not only have to protect our skin from ultraviolet rays, but we also have to protect our eyes from ultraviolet light.
This is because it can lead to cataracts, corneal burns and even eye cancer. Therefore, if you go to an open place, you are required to wear sunglasses to avoid UVA and UVB rays.
5. Be careful when using make up
Make-up in the form of cream or ordinary liquid is prone to bacteria growth if it is not used for too long. Therefore, it is better if you just throw it away if you haven't used it for a long time.
In addition, wash your face before putting on make-up, and if you experience eye irritation, go to the doctor immediately for treatment.
6. Stop smoking
Smoking habits can cause the eyes to become cataracts, macular degeneration and damage to the optic nerve which can cause blindness and damage the retina of the eye. If you are an active smoker, you better start now to stop smoking if you want your eyes to stay healthy.
7. Exercise regularly
A study revealed that regular exercise can reduce the risk of eye disease and can even reduce the risk of blindness due to high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol levels.
In addition to the above methods, you are also required not to read or play smartphones in dark places. Keep your eye distance from the object when reading it will also be better for your eye health.
How to maintain eye health can also be done by not ignoring various eye problems. If you have complaints in your eyes and it is difficult for you to treat yourself, don't hesitate to have your eyes checked by an ophthalmologist.
