Welcome to the Holy month of Ramadan

Ramadan

Ramadan, also spelled Ramazan, Ramzan, Ramadhan or Ramathan, is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.

Fasting in Islam, is the practice of abstaining, usually from food, drink, smoking, and sexual activity. During the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, Sawm is observed between dawn and nightfall when the evening adhan is sounded.

During the entire month of Ramadan, Muslims are obligated to fast (Arabic: صوم‎, sawm; Persian: روزہ, rozeh), every day from dawn to sunset (or from dawn to night according to some scholars). Fasting requires the abstinence from food and drink. ... Fasting the month of Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam.

Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. There is also a verse in the Quran that prescribes fasting for all Muslims who are mature and healthy enough to do so for the full day. So Muslims fast as an act of worship, a chance to get closer to God, and a way to become more compassionate to those in need. Experts have also found that restricting food intake during the day can help prevent health problems such as high cholesterol, heart disease and obesity, as well as improve mental health and wellbeing.

Fasting can teach us to be disciplined, patient and compassionate towards the less fortunate by experiencing hunger at first hand. Through the experience, adherents learn how to be a good Muslim. The rewards are therefore great. The holy prophet Mohammed described fasting as one of the three pillars of Islam.

To all observing Ramadan Mubarak.
