Neuron or Nerve Cell is the basic structural and functiinal unit of nervous system.
Nervous system
It is the coordination between the brain and the body. Nervous system consists of two parts:
1- Central nervous system
2- Peripheral nervous system
Parts of central nervous system are:-
i- Brain
ii- Spinal cord
Parts of peripheral nervous system:-
i- Nerves
i- The Brain:-
The brain of a human present mainly in the skull enclosed within bones called cranium.
Parts of the Brain=
Fore brain , mid brain , hind brain....
ii- Spinal cord
Lies into the backbone ...
Neuron...
It has three main parts
Cell body or Soma
Dendrites
Axon
Neuron receive and conducts the nerve impulses in the form of electrochemical waves. This is the main basic unit of nervous system.
Example=
When a person touches a hot cup of tea then he feel it hot because of this single neuron. It coordinates the brain with muscles, glands and also the other sensory organs like ear , nose, eye etc
