One day at a time.

In the all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6

I saw a poster that said, "I've been trying to live one day at a time, but lately several days have attacked me at once." Have you ever felt that way? I have. What is it that makes it so hard to trust God one day at a time? Is it not because, with our human limitations, we cannot see one minute into the future? However, God holds the future in his hand, and He sees the whole picture. Because we fail to trust God for the future, we begin to worry.

I am told that 40% of the things people worry about never happen. Thirty percent are things that have already happened; and we cannot change past. Twelve percent are thoughts about our health. Worry has never cured any health problem. Ten percent are pretty things that really do not matter. That leaves 8% for legitimate concerns. Prayer does 100% more good for these than worry does.

So why worry when we have a heavenly Father who knows the future? Although we do not always understand, God does have a purpose, and as we learn to trust Him, we can enjoy each day as it comes.

We have no promises of tomorrow. If tomorrow never comes, then all the worry about it has done nothing but make us miserable today, Matthew 6:34 says, "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Today has enough trouble. Do not add to it tomorrow's. He is able to do even more than we could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Enjoy this day; this will be your only chance to enjoy it. If tomorrow does come, the Lord will still be there to take you through. <3
