We wish to read more but don't know where to start and how to maintain the habit. Here is a quick guide.

We all know the importance of reading but when it comes to make it a habit, most of us face many problems. Here, I'd discussing those problems with their remedies. Hope you guys will become addicted to reading after 'reading' this article.

Where to start?

First of all, we have to start with a book that can bind us to itself. Take recommendations from your friends and make sure to read its description and reviews. If that gives you chills, then you have got the perfect book to start with! Some books that are universally accepted as 'starters' is Diary of a Young Girl, Harry Potter Series, Shiva Trilogy.

Identification of your Genre

To be fair, no book, infact nothing can be written or created that everyone will love. Everyone has its own taste and genre. So, identification of one's interest is most important. And once you get your Genre, stick to it and explore more in it.

Is speed of reading a concern?

For the start, it doesn't matter how much time you take to read a book. The only thing required is the interest to read the book. Read it everyday and enjoy the immense satisfaction after finishing it. One can improve his/her speed by reading more and more.

Importance of creating goals

If you are competitive, then create reading goals for an year or a month. You can even make goals for a day. Break for goals and conquer! It is more important to note down the book you read along with the days you started and finished it. It will give you an idea of your speed so that you can improve. To serve this purpose, sign in on 'Goodreads'.

Reviews

Reading as well as writing reviews is important for the better understanding of the book and exchange of views related to it. If you're planning to watch a movie based on a book, reading the book first is always better. If you don't own much books and can't lend any from libraries or buy books due to lockdown, then don't worry. Millions of E-books are readily available and waiting for you to read them.

Personal Experience

Just an year and a half ago, on the name of novels, I had read just a few books of 'Goosebumps' XD. But, I came up with the plan mentioned above and read around 25 books in the year 2019. I will try to move it to 35 in 2020. I started with 'Diary of a Young Girl' and took 10 days to read it. By then, I have increased by reading speed by 5 times. It took me around 3 months to identify my genre, that is mythology and fiction and I have focussed on those even since.

So, hope you found it helpful. It's the best time to develop a habit and reading can be one of the best. Also, to my regular readers, sorry for a long delay in this article. Stay tuned and follow for more content.
