Ways to make your Grub Hub experience better and easier.
Since the early 2000s, so many more options have been provided for us to live our most comfortable, and lazy lives. We can go online and check our symptoms in medical situations, work solely from our phones, and even earn a full Bachelor´s or Master's degree crom our couch.
One of the newer developments we've encounted is tbe accessibility to our favorite foods. Whether we feel like eating fresh seafood and steak, or like chowing down on a McDonalds burger, we have the ability to log into our mobile devices, pick an app, and order for our favorite food to be dropped at our doorstep.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, it's no wonder noone is rushing to dine in at their favorite spot. Thats when delivery services come in handy.
Grub Hub is the top food delivery app, providing fast, hot, and fresh food to their customers. This service is provided by independent drivers trying to either supplement their salary, or in some cases, earn their living. It is important that we as consumers are thanful for their services making our lives easier. This is a guide to follow to create the best experience for you and hour driver.
1. Understand The Pay
Grub Hub drivers are paid by their company approximately 50 cents per mile. This only includes leaving the restaurant which your food is ordered, and dropling it off. This does not include the trip to the restaurant to obtain your order. Assuming you live 6 miles from your favorite restaurant, the driver will make approximately $3 off of your order.
One order on average takes 30-40 minutes to complete since they are driving to the restaurant, usually waiting for your order to be completed, and dtiving it to you. That being said, the driver makes around $6 an hour from the company. This means the majority of their income is from the tips which the customers provide.
One feature Grub Hub provides their workers is the ability to see the total amount in which they will recieve when their job is complete. The drivers are able to accept or decline offers when they pop up. This means if you leave a $0 tip, chances are, your order will float around driver to driver in queue for a while. So please be generous when ordering your meal because drivers are putting wear and tear on their vehicles, using their gas, and during this pandemic, putting their health at risk for your hunger.
2. Understand Delivery Instructions
Grub Hub drivers have two choices when it comes to their GPS system. Google Maps, and Waze. This is fine, however, it is amazing how many times these systems can be incorrect. When putting in your delivery instructions, please include something that will help ghem find your home. Examples of this would include the car in the driveway, the color of your home if its not the same as those around, or a unique decoration or tree in your front yard.
When you put a delivery instruction on your order, it will automatically put that same instruction in future orders. This means if you order Chinese food, and ask for extra soy sauce, then the next day order pizza, your pizza order is going to ask your driver to include soy sauce, so you will probably get a call from a confused driver.
The delivery section can also be used for other questions or comments such as if you would like them to ring your doorbell, or knock on your door. At night time, this section is extremely useful since it is unlikely your driver will be able to see numbers on your house in the dark.
3. Sit By Your Phone
Just like any other app, GH's platform isn't perfect, and restaurants run out of food. There are times when information gets mixed up. It is not impossible for a restaurant which has been closed to still show up in the system. Just like it isn't unusual for a restaurant to run out of an item on their menu during a busy shift. When things like this happen, its important to have an open line of conversation with your driver. This way, the driver can assist you in replacing your item, or help you cancel your order.
In Conclusion
Grub Hub is a fantastic service offered and it is our duty to keep our drivers happy and safe so we can continue to benefit from their services.
