Writer's block
Again, he tore out another page and tossed it in annoyance. He noticed that the trash can was getting filled to the brim.
"Okay, that's it. I give up!"
Mike exclaimed, standing up from the desk where he had been trying to write a new chapter to the novel he was working on for two hours without success. He was looking for the perfect metaphorical conceit to represent the idea of an unrepentant criminal who couldn't stop commiting crimes but Mike seemed to not be on the same page with his literary muse today.
Feeling hungry, he made his way to the kitchen to finish up the leftover of grilled fish he had made for breakfast. As he took a bite, an idea struck him. He remembered Tom and Jerry, his favourite cartoon as a kid. That was it! He could actually use the metaphor of a mouse and a cheese. That was what he had been racking his brain for all day.
"Oh, the power of a good meal!"
He rushed what was left of the fish and returned to his desk, thanking heaven for the new inspiration.
