A street accident is a regular phenomenon in the highways and cities of our country. Every year it kills hundreds of lives. The indirect effect of this invisible monster is the downfall and untold suffering of hundreds of thousands of other people who are family members of those victims.A number of factors are responsible for this mishap including the inattentiveness of drivers, the working of a driver over too long a tome at a stretch, the bad conditions of the streets, and most importantly, the maudlin competitiveness of the drivers. In Bangladesh, every day we find the news of road accident in our daily newspapers and the screen of television. It really makes us very shocked. Last month I faced such type of pathetic road accident. It occurred in Mirpur road near Kolabagan bus stand. When I was standing on the rod and waiting for the bus. Then I saw a little boy who was trying to cross the busy road. When he was crossing the road at that time a bus was coming towards him with a great speed. But within a short time, it ran over the body of the boy and at once the boy was seriously injured. After sometimes when he was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared him as death. Really, it made me more pathetic and I cannot forget it easily.

A Street Hawker

The man who hawks many things on the road, near bus stand, railway station, bazaar etc. is called a street hawker. Generally a street hawker deals in various things. He carries his materials on head and sometimes in hand and sometimes in a small handicraft. He generally buys his goods at a cheaper rate and sells them at a good profit. A street hawker has some extra techniques to convince his customers because he is very cunning and he knows his business very well.Mostly, it is seen that his customers are children and women. Generally, he brings toys, sweets and other things for children and sells them at a good rate. He also brings bangles, ribbons, clothing’s, fruits, fancy goods and things of domestic uses for women. He speaks in different ways to draw the attention of his customers. A hawker also knows the time/hour of his business. He does not come when the housemasters are at home. Rather he comes when the housemasters are out of home and when the women are free from their household work and duties. Normally, the life of a hawker is not so easy. He has to work hard to manage his livelihood. Though he works hard, his income is very poor. So, he lives under the poverty line.

Tree Plantation

Tree is one of the most important elements of our environment. It is impossible to think any environment without tree. So tree plantation is a burning question in deed. We know that trees supply us with oxygen and receive carbon dioxide. We cannot live without oxygen. The food what we eat to live, the medicine what we take to cure diseases, the furniture what we use for comfort, the dress what we wear to look us good, the cars and vehicles what we use to run our life smooth tree is a must. That is why it is very essential for us to consider tree plantation. Actually planting tree according to the need and necessity of the environment is called tree plantation. We know that to keep balance of the environment 25% of a country should be wood area. But actually many countries of the world do not have this quantity of wood area. In Bangladesh we have only 6% forest area of total land. It is not at all desirable to us. So realizing the need and necessity we should be aware of tree plantation. In the tree plantation week from July 1 to 7 we all should plant at least one piece of tree. We can plant tree in the open space of our houses, fields and by the side of the roads. In order to ensure a healthy environment we should stop deforestation and provide tree plantation. If we can keep balance of the environment we will live better. So we all should come forward to prevalent tree plantation.

Digital Bangladesh

Digital Bangladesh means digitalizing Bangladesh by ensuring an ICT based society where information will be available on line. Here all the possible tasks of government or semi-government will be performed using digital technology. The motto of digital Bangladesh is to establish technology based digital governance, e-commerce, e-agriculture, e-production, e-education etc.The benefits of digital Bangladesh are many. If we can establish a digital Bangladesh, corruption will be reduced radically. It will make people think globally and connect them with the whole world economically, socially, politically, academically and even culturally. It will improve our banking and financial activities. Agriculture, health, education, commerce – all these sections will be highly benefited by making Bangladesh a digital one. To make our country digital first of all, uninterrupted power supply has to be ensured and we have to develop computer network skill and ensure equitable access. Finally, our education should be computer based and in primary and secondary schools students should get easy access to the computer.

DEFORESTATION

Generally cutting down trees extensively to fulfill the basic needs of fuel and housing and thus destroying the ecological balance is called deforestation. It’s natural that human being needs houses, furniture, firewood etc. For this, man uses wood. Wood is also used in big industries. Man makes shops, educational institution, boats, launches, trucks and other vehicles that lead many people to cut down trees. It causes threats to our environment. There are also many people engaged in cutting down trees from the forests making vast areas almost bare and leaving many wild animals in danger. All these have multifarious effects on the environment. Floods and droughts, cyclones and tornadoes are the common phenomena in a region or in a country where deforestation is going on. In our country less rainfall, excessive rainfall, bad harvest, soil erosion, extinction of wild animals, greenhouse effects are the problems prevailing due to deforestation. To prevent deforestation some pragmatic steps should be taken. A social movement should be launched to prevent deforestation. Social awareness can be raised regarding bad effects of deforestation. For this purpose, environment of science and study on ecology should be introduced from school level. Massive awareness regarding tree plantation can be raised through TV programmes. And above all, our forest department should enforce all codes of manner strictly at least to reduce deforestation. Besides them our government should apply hard rules to make the consciousness of the common people and we have to be conscious for saving our woods.

Women's Contribution to Society

From the beginning of the world women have been contributing a lot to build the nation more strong and fruitful beside the male. In spite of their important support they are not given so much privilege to express themselves freely in the society. In the ancient society women were looked upon without any dignity and honor. They were considered as the mere instruments of serving the family affairs. So they did not get proper education, respect even food. They were not given any opportunity to go outside of their houses. But with the progress of civilization, the outlook and the attitude of the world towards women have totally changed. When they realized that, it is totally impossible for any nation to get prosperity and reach to the goal without allowing women to play an active role. They started adding the women beside them in different parts of the work. Now a day a number of women in our country are working in different garment factories beside the women of the world. By working in the factories they earn their livelihood and maintain their family. There are also many women who are working in government and non-government offices with their professionals nowadays. They are working and earning a lot not only for supporting their own family but also for contributing to the whole development of our country. Gradually they are developing themselves in every stage of life. They are now more conscious, serious and professional. The women are now enjoying their fundamental rights. They are seen in all the professions like: doctor, teacher, banker, engineer, journalist, writer and even they are also seen in the pick of the Everest. In spite of their better position in the society still now a number of women in both villages and towns in our country have to face a lot of social and religious bindings. They are not given their equal rights. Dory system is the worse system in our society. Only for it every year many women have lost their valuable lives. To make the women more powerful for our nation, we should give them proper education and give them the chance to go ahead beside the male. So, we should change our outlook and educated circle of our population should come forward beside government and NGO to establish the rights of the women so that they can actively take part in nation building.
