The war has dealt a blow to a Wildlife Sanctuary owner, Killian McLaughlin a.k.a The Bearman of Buncrana, who was planning to rescue two caged Brown Bears from Russia and bring them to Ireland.
He runs the Wild Ireland Animal Retreat in Donegal and he has been left frustrated by the Covid-19 pandemic and the invasion.
European Brown Bears, Buu and Tiopa were trapped in āhorrendousā 3m x 3m cages at a dog pound.
Killian, who stressed on their fading health due to the war, said: āWe were sending money out to feed them, but now thereās no way of sending money there.
āOne of the bears, Buu, canāt see the outside/sunlight, and Tiopa canāt get out of the sunlight because heās stuck outside in a cage with rusty iron bars, no roof over him and there's not enough room for him to stand".
