New Lighting System, Firefly
There are magical things all over the world. Thanks to the internet, we have more resources than ever to learn about these things. Each of these special things that I will tell you about today can be said to be a wonder of the world.
Follow me, we're leaving.
Firefly Caves, New Zealand
The insect known as the New Zealand Firefly reflects bright light. So much so that these features are also ways of survival. This feature is used by insects as a hunting tool. When the firefly is ready to eat, it vomits a glowing secretion from its body. These secretions hang like sticky sprouts of death. In caves that are usually filled with black stones, the glowing lights of insects appear like fireworks at the top of the cave, and all kinds of insects are fascinated by this light. When any insect gets caught in the sticky residue, the fireflies enjoy the feast before the lights go out. When you enter such a cave, you may think that someone has painted the cave with fluorescent paint.
Deadvlei, Namibia
Among the magnificent red dunes lies a strange, almost otherworldly landscape. If you happen to be in this place, you may think that you have come across an ancient city. The rich red dunes surrounding the area owe their color to age. After thousands of years, the sand is literally rusted here. A huge area covered with clay and metal. When dry, the soil is hard and arid. When wet, it becomes sticky and plastic. But all this happens only once every 5 to 10 years. It would be a really great chance to come across this natural phenomenon, wouldn't it? The area fed by the Tsauchab River is the river's final destination. Even in the wettest years when the river overflows, the water is absorbed by the soil so fast that it never reaches the bottom. The name of this region is “place of no return,” to match it. This name was given by the natives. This color combination of red dunes, clear blue skies and pale white creates a scene that can only be seen in movies or fantasy novels.
Tateyama Kurobe, The Route of the Alps
This place is known as the roof of Japan. Tateyama Kurobe is one of the most impressive roads in the world. You can ask this to anyone who has gone here and enjoyed the scenery. Do a little research and you'll find out. This unique and fascinating route is located on the border of Toyama and Nagano. This road, which is 37 kilometers long, is located at an altitude of 2449 meters above sea level. Because it is dangerous and to control tourism, this route remains closed from December to April. From December to mid-Nisa, all roads leading here are closed. This means that you have to look from a tiny spot left open to see this view. This is one of the reasons why this place is unthinkable for many people. Going on vacation is a good thing. But taking a vacation in a small place that is open is something completely different. This place has a bad reputation for its massive snowfalls. When the road is fully opened in mid-May, both sides of the road are surrounded by ice walls, which usually reach a height of 15 meters. This scenic gateway connects the city of Toyama and the Sea of Japan. If you have the opportunity to see this natural beauty, definitely consider it.
Paper House, Massachusetts
The same question crosses everyone's mind when they hear about this house. Why would someone build an entire house and most of their belongings using more than 100,000 newspapers? While we don't have an official answer, experts have a good guess.
Construction began on a summer residence in one of the seaside towns of Rockport in 1922. This house was traditionally built with wood frame and roof. But the walls and insulation materials consisted entirely of varnished newspapers. That's not all. Most items in the house, including a table, chair, lamp, desk, bed, radio cabinet, curtains, bookcase, a working fireplace, and a standing wall clock. If there's one thing this house challenges, it's what we consider garbage today. An engineer built a house entirely out of newspapers. He kept it warm and stuffed it again with items made from newspapers.
When you see such stories coming to light, it seems like there is nothing people can't do. Today, you can find the paper house nestled between two neighboring houses where people live. The paper house is still open to the public. If you happen to be in Cambridge Massachusetts, be sure to stop by and check out this engineering marvel.
