There are times that you will want to travel alone or the situation calls for you to travel alone. Like when you have a conference that you need to attend somewhere out of the country or just a soul-searching trip that you want to do outside of the country. But whatever trip it is make sure that you are well prepared and that you didn't miss packing the important stuff that you will be needing. Traveling alone is fun if you plan your trip well and that you didn't cause yourself any trouble just because you didn't do your homework.

Travel documents

Travel documents such as passports and visas are important. Make sure that you secure the correct visa that you will be needing before the travel date. Double-check your flight ticket if all the details are correct. Make sure that the name written 0n your passport, on your visa, and on your flight ticket are the same without any misspelling to avoid problems at the airport. Double-check your passport's expiration date because even if you have a flight ticket or you have a visa, but if your passport is nearing its expiration date you cannot leave the country. And don't forget to secure travel insurance. Yes, travel insurance. If you think you don't need it, think again. If you don't buy travel insurance, you're responsible for anything that goes wrong. If you do, this can save you from extra expenses that you shouldn't have.

Accommodations

There are people who plan their trip well and book for their accommodations months before the trip and there is the adventurous type who look out for accommodations as soon as they arrive at their destination. But whatever type of traveler you are make sure that you know what you have an idea of where you are going and what type of accommodation do you like. There are hostel types where you can meet other people and there is the hotel type in which you have your own privacy in your own room. Honestly, after traveling alone twice I really prefer to have my own room where I can comfortably rest after a long day of adventures.

Pocket Money

Aside from the travel documents, this is the second most important that you should have wherever you are going. And make sure you never run out of it especially if you are traveling alone and don't know anyone in the area. Segregate your cash according to your expenses. And Always, always have extra cash that is kept somewhere safe just in case your budget runs out. And remember to separate that extra cash.

Pack Light

You don't have to pack all the clothes that you can think of. Pack only those that you think you will be needing. Avoid carrying things that you can never use. And packing light can save you from paying extra charges for bags on budget flights. And if packing light is really not an option for you make sure to pay your extra luggage ahead of time to avoid extra charges at the airport that is so expensive.

Itinerary

Make sure you do some research about the place where you are going and plan your itinerary well to save time and money going back and forth in the same area. This will also give you time to make reservations about the places that you want to visit. This will also give you an idea of how much cash that you need to bring. And another important thing, don't forget to leave a copy of your itinerary to your family or to your friends just in case they need to contact you.

These are just the basic stuff that you need to remember on planning your trip. Of course, there are still a lot of things that you're going to encounter once you are out there alone. Things like checking the train schedule or bus schedule, Making sure you have the vicinity map and you studied it well. Where's the best place to eat if you are a solo traveler. Where's the best place to shop if you plan to do some shopping and make sure that you have a place in your luggage for the new items that you're bringing home. And the most important is to make sure you enjoy your trip. Traveling alone is a lot of fun and a lot of learnings too. The last tip, trust everyone and no one. Traveling alone is about meeting new friends. It’s okay to hang out, travel, and share with new friends, but you might not want to ask them to hold your valuables.
