The inferiority complex is a term being used to describe people who are feeling inferior. Feeling less and not worthy compared to others, because of that they tend to things they think they would be superior enough to others. It is a psychological matter that needs to be addressed exactly before it leads to other complications. Insecure feelings are likely the most obvious to determine if a person has some inferiority complex, low self-esteem. Inability to achieve goals and feeling stuck or stagnant. This will likely cause anxiety and depression in the long term if it is not being addressed right away.
I am currently watching a series movie and I was mesmerized about how the female Antagonist acts. She was full of hate for the female protagonist because there are things she cannot have that the protagonist has. The female protagonist was just simple and a warm person despite that she was abandoned by her mother when she was little, her father takes care of her well. While the Antagonist grows up having all the luxurious things she wants because she was an heir of their company but she likes her childhood friend that does not reciprocate her feelings because the guy likes the simple girl. She cannot accept that the guy likes the simple girl, she did everything just to get the guy. She even put herself in danger so that the guy will pity and take care of her. She is mentally ill because she was inferior, she grew up knowing her mom is not her biological mom, the treatment of her stepmom to his younger brother is warmer than her. From that thought, she did her best just to be the best and be appreciated but she failed to get the attention she wants. Shes always next to her brother even if her brother does not achieve anything. The inferiority complex consume her that pushes her to do horrible things such as harming the simple girl because she thinks that the girl stole everything from her, she also found out that her stepmom was the biological mom of the girl, it made her even more furious and vent our all her inferiority to the girl. In the beginning, it was just simple insecurity because she can't have the attention she wants but gets worse when it was triggered when the guy she likes does not like her back.
There are many reasons why the inferiority complex develops.
Illegitimacy
Being an illegitimate child will likely develop inferiority because the foundation of their growth will differ from those who have complete parents. Growing up without acknowledgment is such a pain on the ass, this will also be one of the reasons why illegitimate child being bullied. Bullying will now add up to the fire causing inferiority to arise more.
Broken Family
Having a broken family will lose a sense of security to a child or person from emotional, mental, and financial aspects since both parties (parents) will have different paths to take causing to scatter the attention that should be given into the family circles. Especially to the young ones who cannot understand yet the situation, they will likely to question themselves why is that they don't have a complete family, that's when inferiority takes in, the sense of being incomplete.
Being Bullied
Bullying is one of the reasons why some people tend to breakdown on emotional and mental aspects because bullying is shaming. Shaming their imperfections. This will likely develop inferiority since they will start to belittle themselves due to bullying.
Broken Relationship
I think most of us have experienced being broken because of a failed relationship. Coming from a failed relationship will likely change the behavior of the person, causing them to develop inferiority because they will now think that they are worthless and do not deserve to have a good relationship.
Over discipline/Wrong way of discipline
Some parents are too strict every time their child makes mistakes they will beat them resulting in trauma. This will cause inferiority as the child grows thinking their parents don't love them at all.
Abandonment
Being abandoned by the person we love such as a relationship to the opposite sex or the parents will somehow cause us an inferiority thinking we are not worthy and deserves to be abandoned.
Victim of violence and sexual harassment/ Rape victims
Victims of violence and sexual harassment will likely develop inferiority because of their traumatic experience. Especially the rape victims they will feel like they are unclean and not pure anymore. They will sleep with nightmares every night.
Persons with disabilities or personal looks consciousness
Having disabilities are prone to bullying so as to body stereotyping or body shaming. Some people like to bully other people's looks imperfections that will lead to that person's inferiority causing them to be more conscious and insecure.
Comparison/Favoritism
Constant comparison from your parents to other siblings, cousins, or anyone is really bothersome so as favoritism it will lead to developing inferiority because it seems that no matter what you do you cant have the appreciation you want since you are being compared. This will cause insecurities to the core thinking you can't be the best because there's always someone who is ahead with you and that is the one who is always compared to you. (Thoughts Credits to @Hanzell as I forgot to mention this)
Sometimes our own family circle is the cause of our inferiority because they don't think about our feelings they invalidate us. I dunno why late generation parents do not know what is right parenting they just want good kids but they aren't good parents at all.
These are just based on my experience if I happen to mention misinformation you can correct me in the comment section. I was once very insecure due to my negative experiences, but I overcome it eventually because it was actually only in my head. In fighting psychological issues we need moral support from other people but they cannot help us if we are not going to help ourselves. We are the ones responsible for ourselves.
There's also when you're constantly compared to some other figure but mostly it is your upbringing. However, your all article is very informative @Eybyoung . Thank you so much dear friend for sharing this with us
