Her First Day High
Finally, I've got to experience to have a student now. My Lil girl had her first day high last August 22, it was the final back to school in our country after two long years of having online and modular classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
I was so excited shopping for her school supplies as if I was having a college student lol. She's just a kindergarten student as she'll turn 5 years old this October. Just last year I was having headaches teaching her the basic learnings, but right now she's finally going to school.
Rayleigh's First Day High
The school was located near our house so we don't have to travel, it's just a walking distance from our house. Her class schedule starts from 11:30 AM- 2:30 AM Monday-Wednesday. According to their teacher, they'll have full face-to-face classes when November comes as per the DepEd guidelines in response to COVID-19 safety protocols.
When we arrive at her school her teacher instructs them to fall in line with distance. They'll have to step on the yellow arrow for social distancing purposes. They look so cute falling in line, I was amazed at the same time because she behave well.
In our house whenever I instruct her on something she's so hard-headed, but when she's at school she behaves accordingly. It's surprising on my part haha! But I was happy because at least she will not shame me lmao.
Besides them, there's a poster that shows how to greet their teacher. The teacher will let them pick what they want, either wave, heart, bow, or salute. She chose the waving part.
She waves at her teacher while saying good morning. After that, she'll proceed on checking her temperature and sanitizing her hands.
After sanitizing their hands that's when they proceed to enter their classroom. The classroom also has spaces for social distancing purposes.
Their section was cut into three parts Set A, B & C to minimize the student's counts in following the safety protocols. She belongs in set C, set A was scheduled in the morning while set B is scheduled from Thursday to Friday. They just have longer hours than the M-W schedule.
Challenging on my part
My daily routine was changed because of this, we have to wake up earlier than usual so she can take her breakfast and lunch before going to school. We are not early risers people, we are like nocturnals lol.
Her dad and I sleep late normally, and she doesn't sleep early as well. It was my dilemma a long time ago that she doesn't sleep early, so this is challenging on my part on how to change our daily routine.
Right now that she's schooling already, we have to let her sleep at least 9 PM and wake her up at 7:30 or 8 AM to take her breakfast. She'll have her lunch at quarter to 11 AM and we'll head to school at 11:20 AM.
We were still in the adjustment stage, hopefully, we'll get used to it. It's so challenging how to let her sleep early and wake her up early, gosh! I need an ocean type of patience 🤦
This is kind of sombering to realize that there are still areas on this planet that have to deal with covid restrictions. Here we no longer have restrictions of any kind and though we've had a little flare this summer things just fizzled out. Huge events with over 50000 attendees from over 52 countries have taken place without issues. reading your story really brings you back down to earth and realize we'z not out of these woods yet.
