Wearing red for repellent.

November 1, 2022. Tuesday.

It's All Saints Day today. This day is dedicated to visiting our loved ones who have passed away. Today is the day when we can remember and visit them.

Before there was no Covid 19 or before the pandemic hit, we used to visit the grave of our loved ones every year. It's no mistake, even if it's raining or shining, we go to the cemetery or memorial park where the remains of our family members who have passed away are buried.

It was also fun at the memorial park we went to because at the very end of it there was a fair (perya) and carnival. People can go and enjoy there after they visit the tombs. That used to be the reason why I was always excited on November 1 because the place I went to was so fun and there were so many people. Besides seeing other members of our family again and having a mini reunion, going to the carnival is one of my favorite part every November 1.

In the dusk, we usually go and visit the graves of our loved ones. It was too hot when we went in the morning and we will just sweated there. We will bring candles, flowers and food. We will be at the tomb for a few hours. We will talk with our relatives, eat and pray before leaving the grave. After all that we will go to the fair and carnival. I was very happy when I heard from my mother the sentence "we will go first and these kids are going to the fair". I suddenly remember the times when I was young and I was super excited about such things.

I actually bring coins to bet on different games at the fair and I'm very happy because I usually win. I used to get food and stuffed toys when I used to win that's why I accumulated a lot of teddy bears. It was good that I won the fair then, but now I feel like I'm unlucky that I didn't win hahaha. Back then, apart from foods and stuffed toys, I also won money. I save the money that I win so that I can go on different rides at Carnival. Usually I only ride the Jollibee, Caterpillar and Horror Train. And then after I ride the rides, I will eat the foods I won in the empty spaces there where people can hang out.

November 1 was happy then. It's really different before the pandemic came. A lot has changed. We couldn't do the things we are used to because of the lockdowns that were implemented. But I'm happy that now we can do the normal things we used to do again. I hope the easing of health restrictions and protocols continues. And I hope we can completely suppress Covid 19 so that we can fully return to our old and normal life. Our lives are so fun before the pandemic, right? So I hope we can really go back to before.

Today we will not leave the house. We will not go to the cemetery or memorial park because there is a baby in our family now. He can't just wander around yet, so we choose to just stay at home this November 1. We'll just light a candle later when it gets dark. Those candles are for our loved ones who we cannot visit their graves.

Anyway, I actually wore a red shirt today. It is said that this is a counter or repellant to those spirits who was wandering around this November 1. Do you also believe in this superstition ? To wear red clothes so that the spirits don't approach you quickly? Comment down below your answers guys.

And by the way, I can't stay up late now either because we have school tomorrow. I thought there would be no classes until November 2 because tomorrow is All Souls Day, but I was wrong because tomorrow we are being ask to sent back at school. It's a good thing and recently I did my other activities so there are only a few remaining activities or to do that I haven't finished yet. I'm just really sad because I know there's no school until tomorrow. So that means I was really wrong to think that I will be able to relax until tomorrow. Huhuhu.
