A small issue that became worse.
October 21, 2022. Friday.
Today is my rest day or day off. This is the day we don't have class on the school where we do our Field Study (FS for short). Because we are required to enter the school only four days a week, so it's either Monday or Friday we only have day off.
And a while ago, some news reached us, a very bad news. I just woke up and that's what immediately hit me. I woke up around 7:00 am earlier and when I opened my Facebook account, there were messages that appeared to me, so many messages, from different gc (group chat) of our section. They were already talking about what happened to us and I didn't know that they were already gossiping about our issue at the school we where deployed.
It's like this so you can better understand the incident. There was even a teacher at the school where we doing our Field Study who posted about us on his social media account. This is his post.
English translation:
Hello to those student teachers who are snob and do not know how to greet. The superintendent was even defeated. (Closest translation, didn't know if the last sentence is correct)
Just like what you read, he say that we don't know how to greet others and we are said to be snob. What he said is "mga" so it means he is referring to all of us.
Actually I don't know anything about what he is saying because I have never met that teacher inside the school. So why does he say that "everyone", all of us are the ones he is attacking in his post. I know for myself that I greet all the teachers I see and I even bow at them. I do that every day and without fail, I always greet them all as long as I see or meet them. So this teacher, I don't know what he is saying and why he posted it like that. This teacher is having his classes at Senior High School building (SHS) and my friends and I are having our classes at Junior High School building (JHS). Because there are two sections of us doing field studies at that school and the other section is having classes at SHS and we are not. So what he hits/strike on are the FS students that he sees in SHS.
My friends and I were also affected even though we knew that we had never seen that teacher. We were worried because all about his post. And the difficult thing is that when that issue get to our University, for sure we will have a big problem.
But another problem we have is that many have read the post, many have reacted and many have commented. I read the comments in the comment section and I was very sad because the comments there were rude. There was even one comment who said that he would wait for us at the gate of the school (it's like he's threatening us). Of course my friends and I were scared, who wouldn't be scared by such a threat, right?
Actually, it's just a very small problem, but why did he magnify it so much? Why did he post it on social media? To embarrass all of us FS students? Well, he didn't know that there were different sections of us that there in the school.
Also, I just want to correct him, we are not student teachers yet because we are just Field Study Students.
And above all, he is a teacher but why did he do that? He is professional but why did he do that thing? Will his rant really needed to be posted on social media? I know teachers are role models. His friends on social media are mostly the students of the school so they will see what he posted. What students see in their teachers, they tend to imitate. So I think what he did by posting on social media is unprofessional. If he has a problem with us, FS students, he can tell us or scold us on the spot and he doesn't need to post it on social media to spread it to everyone and embarrass us.
I think that is not the right behaviour of a good/sensible teacher. Just a real talk.
Even students today will lose respect for us once we enter school on Monday. Because many students read his post.
The news has reached the Head of the TLE Department where we are under and the head is very angry with the teacher who posted it. They have already talked about it, but we will know the news on Monday becuase we don't have class now so we didn't hear what they talked to. But based on the message to us from the head of the TLE department where we are under, they are angry with the teacher who posted that. They said he posted without any basis. He posted without even talking to those above him (Heads and Principals). And most of all, the Heads are angry with him because why did he post it, he shouldn't have done that because he can tell us and talk to us in person.
And just now while I was starting to write this article, the teacher deleted his post about us. Maybe he found out that what he posted has reached the Head of TLE and the issue has also reached our University. He deleted the post for what reason? Was he scared because his post had reached the the people in high positions? He delete it when many people read and saw it already. But it's too late for him to delete it, the Head and our professors have already screenshot his post so there is proof of the mistake he made.
Many say that what he posted on social media is defamation. Someone else suggested that we can file a case against that teacher because what he did to us was almost bullying and severe humiliation.
So what can you say or what is your opinion on what that one teacher did? Do you think what he did was being professional? Is it true that the problem with students still needs to be posted on social media?
I'm restless until now, until I don't know what will happen next to us and to our Field Study.
Just because of a very small issue that he aggravated, we were affected completely.
That's all for today. Thank you so much for reading. Happy weekend.
