A11 Bionic chipset eliminates overheating problem… Price expected at $250

Air Power may be released at WWDC in June

(Seoul=News 1) Reporter Chang-Gyu Lee = One of the inconveniences for people using various Apple products, such as the iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch, was charging cables that became complicated while charging multiple devices.

However, it is reported that Apple is developing a charging mat'AirPower' that can charge multiple devices at once, attracting attention from users of Apple products.

On the 18th (local time), John Proser, a famous Twitter expert in IT, released a photo of a product that looks like Air Power through Twitter. The released photo shows the Apple Watch and AirPod Pro being charged.

"People wanted a better picture of the C68," Proser said. "It was a big problem that the prototype didn't support the Apple Watch, but now the Apple Watch is also charging." C68 is Air Power's development code name.

This is not the first time Apple has developed Air Power. Apple announced that it will launch Airpower, a wireless charging pad, at an unpacking event that unveiled the iPhone X in September 2017. But last year, Apple announced it would cancel its plans to develop Air Power.

The reason for the cancellation of the plan was not known at the time, but it was claimed that it was due to the overheating problem inside Air Power. When charging an Apple Watch that requires a lot of energy to charge it with other devices, the air power may overheat and catch fire.

However, the air power picture released this time seems to have solved the overheating problem as the Apple Watch is charging with the AirPods Pro. The IT media, von Arena, explained that Air Power seems to be capable of thermal management with the A11 Bionic chipset.

The Proser expected to launch in the fourth quarter of this year or the first quarter of next year, revealing the concept image of Air Power last April. The price was estimated at $250 (about 302,000 won). However, some foreigners predicted that they could be released at the World Developers Conference (WWDC) on the 22nd.
