How did pandemic affected you? I was chilling awhile ago when I read a news update regarding the licensure exam here in the Philippines. I am a fresh graduate but 1 year had already passed since our ceremony so I guess I won't be qualified as one. Let me rephrase it, I'm a Tambay, one who is dependent of one's family despite finishing education or having the qualification to find a job.
It was December 14, 2019 when I officially passed my studies. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education major in Social Studies.
Dawned on our uniform, we dreamed of traveling the globe. Naively, we thought that our path was already on a linear track to success. (We have a motto, 'claim it) ✌️
December 15, 2020, our graduation ball. It was already concluded that we didn't fail any subject so we had a blast during the ball.
Our graduation ceremony was on January 23, 2020 and I'm proud to say that my family's support was not wasted. This was a happy occasion so we celebrated non-stop :))
All the celebrations ended and we are now focused on passing our licensure exams. We enrolled on a review center and restudied as much as possible. We even gone to Manaoag, Pangasinan to pray for our exams. (That's a tradition for review centers)
The Licensure exam for Teachers was supposedly last March 2020 but it was postponed because of the pandemic. It was moved to September 2020. We are irked at the postponement but it was also for our wellbeing. We studied hard for the last 4 years so we take March - August as a break for all our efforts.
August 2020 came and the PRC announced that LET (Licensure for teachers) would then be postponed indefinitely. The date was still not decided so they say that it would be moved for this year 2021.
Instead of wasting our time, we applied for part time jobs thinking that we shouldn't apply for regular positions because LET might resume unexpected. We still hope to receive of license so we took breaks after random part time jobs.
January 3, 2021, we are elated that LET has been approved and the exam would now be commenced. We were like 'this is it pansit!' Excitement, fear, laziness, we were having a mixed feeling about the exam but we are looking forward to it.
Right now, we are doing our best to review but I was bothered at the article released by the PRC.
Majority of the exams were cancelled last year but a batch of nursing students were able to take their exam due to the pressing matter of pandemic.
After reading the article, I was then again bothered. Our exam was already approved but why are they telling to prioritize such fields again. I am being selfish but this is unfair for us. Exams for February 2021 are already postponed and ours might be the next.
Our careers are on the line and time is passing. We also need our license to qualify for a job we are aiming for. We all started at the starting line but others were already on the finish line.
We all need to live, we all need a job, we all want to survive but this is just frustrating. Pandemic affected all of us and we can't blame anyone for this misfortune. We also didn't ask for this to happen but why..
Writing with a burdened heart, EvilWillow🥺
