ITCHING OF THE EYE
Itching of the eye can be as a result of a sensation felt in the eye that causes a person or animal to scratch the eye.
The itching of the eye can be caused by either a foreign substance entering the eye, by refractive error, by filarial worm, using dirty hands to touch the eye and so on.
When you are facing this kind of problem, the quick solution doesn't lie in scratching the eye but the best thing to do is to boil water. Make it warm, get a neat, white handkerchief and soak in the warm water. Dab that part of the eye with the handkerchief soaked in warm water.
This is true because warm water (high temperature) can reduce the itching.
This method is preferred because when you itch your eye, you send a signal to the eye leading to the movement of blood to the eye. That's why when you scratch, your eye turns red due to the signal it received.
If after dabbing the eye with the warm water and the itching stopped not, maybe because of foreign object or uncorrected refractive error while trying to fix your eye on something, you can't. In this case, you gat to visit an optometrist (an eye doctor) to help the situation.
Most times, when people are referred to a doctor, they might have the mindset that the bill is gonna be much. But remember, not all doctor wants you to be sick, not all want you to go blind that's why it's preferable to meet the doctor at the initial stage when it hasn't gotten to the late stage. This is VERY important because once the eye is blinded, the whole body is blind (and is affected).
