📜Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat *Matthew14:16 (NIV)*
📋The disciples appeared to be showing a genuine concern but Jesus saw it otherwise. The day was getting to the end and Jesus seemed to be so much involved in his teachings that he did not recognize which time it was. The disciples, who appeared to be very concerned about the people and where they were coming from, went to Jesus and advised him to release the people to go home. They felt that it was better to go home hungry than to stay late into the night in the wilderness. Jesus however saw it otherwise. He felt that if it was food they needed and not about going home late, then they must be fed. As we go about doing the Kingdom business, we must not lose sight of the real needs of the people we interact with. Sometimes we burden them with so much activity that we forget to meet their needs. As we draw the big programmes and occupy the people with activities, we must learn to be conscious of their real needs. Jesus is a practical person. He was not merely interested in programmes. What are the needs of the people around you? How much do you care about them? Don’t let them go, give them something to make the gospel meaningful and practical to them.
