*📖PERSEVERANCE IN ADVERSITY*
👉(Reading: Ruth 2:1-9)
🗓Wednesday, July 8
📜And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.” Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.” So, she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters… *Ruth 2:2-3 (ESV)*
📋Ruth is a woman who never gives up. When her motherin-law, Naomi persuaded her to return to her family after she had lost her husband, she insisted and followed her to Bethlehem. When they got to Bethlehem, she decided not to sit down to wallow in poverty but rather, resolved to go to the field to work. This is indeed, a woman, who seldom blames circumstances for her misfortunes. She asked permission from her mother-in-law to go to the field to make a living not only for herself, but also, for the entire family. Out of her perseverance and hard work, she met her future husband. Her decision to follow Naomi to Bethlehem yielded results. Bethlehem means “House of Bread” but ironically, it suffered famine— but when God decided to visit his people, Ruth, a foreigner benefited from it due to her perseverance. Today, you may be down and may be tempted to give up. Don’t give up; let the life of Ruth challenge you. Go out there, work hard and God will come through to you. Don’t sit down to blame everybody, including God.
