📖SUFFERING FOR CHRIST’S SAKE
👉(Reading: Hebrews 10:32-39)
🗓Tuesday, August 4
📜Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated Hebrews 10:32 (NIV)
📋Suffering for Christ is honourable. This is because, when we genuinely suffer for Christ’s sake, we do not only glorify him but we also serve as a source of encouragement to others. Suffering for Christ comes in many ways. One may suffer because he/she has refused to lie, cheat or compromise the truth. While some of the suffering we endure come from outside, some also come from within. A fellow Christian may plan evil against you so that you are sacked from your job. Or a Church member may undermine you and present you in a negative way before your leadership so as to gain favour from them. You may be hurt and wounded so much so that healing becomes humanly impossible. But Hebrews is admonishing us to endure suffering for the sake of Christ. The writer reminded the Hebrew Christians of their resolve to suffer for Christ when they first believed, encouraging them to continue. They were even ready to be ridiculed publicly. Can the same be said of us? Are we ready to defend and stand by those who are persecuted? Are you hurting because of your faith? Stand firm, for God is your reward!
🛐Meditation And Prayer: Father, give me the courage to endure suffering for your sake and to stand by those who do the same.
