📜Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Instruct, Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel … May the Lord, bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favour and give you his peace’. This is how Aaron and his sons will designate the Israelites as my people, and I myself will bless them *Numbers 6:22-27 (NLT)*
📋In some sense, God blesses both the just and unjust, sending rain, sunshine and other common blessings on both. However certain blessings are reserved for God’s children. This scripture was a special blessing for Israel and it is a blessing applicable to us as God’s children as well. God says to Moses “Instruct Aaron … to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing” (v.22). So God says to the priest, “you bless the people, and as you do, I will bless them”. This means when we speak God’s blessing into people’s lives, what we really are doing is creating an opportunity for God to actually bless those individuals. The words we use in our homes, at work and other places have power either to bless or curse, to build up others or tear them down. Our words can “keep” another person – reassure, protect and support. Our words can be full of “grace;” for example, accepting responsibility for a shared error rather than shift the blame by minimizing our role. Our words can also bring “peace” by restoring broken relationships. Speak blessings into someone’s life today?
