📜Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name *Psalm100:4 (NIV)*
📋Human as we are, we often complain about the hardships we go through in life. But when we pause to think about the blessings we receive, we will have every cause to give thanks to God as the Psalmist is inviting us to do in today’s passage. In Psalm v.4, the Psalmist says, ‘Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.’ One day, as the New England settlers were discussing their hardships, one of them suggested that they set a day aside specially for fasting and prayer. Another person however emphasised that they should rather focus on their blessings. He pointed out to them that they had abundant food and more importantly, they had their liberty. The Lord is good to us; he blesses us with salvation, food, good health, etc. Let’s therefore not focus on our hardships, but rather give thanks to God for dying on the cross to give us salvation. Apart from thanking God every day, we can set a special day aside during the week, in the month or in a year, as a day for thanksgiving as individuals, Church or a nation as the Americans have set aside 26th November each year as an annual holiday known as Thanksgiving Day. How thankful are you?
