📜Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it … *Colossians 2:20 (NIV)*
📋Dead bodies are no longer responsive to the things around them—they have found themselves in a totally new environment which is alien to this world in which they once lived. I once watched a film in which a man who was neglected by his family pretended to be dead. The family quickly arranged for his funeral. While they mourned and filed past the supposed corpse, the dead person jumped from the bed and chased them out of the room with a cane. How we wish we can be alive to see what happens to us when we die. Fortunately, or unfortunately, we are not allowed to know what happens to our bodies when we die. Paul used the imagery of death to relate to our spiritual walk with Christ. He explained that since the dead cannot live by the precepts of the living, Christians must live as those who are dead to the world. Christians must not allow the things around us to influence us. The things of the world try to catch our attention, but we must not allow them to draw us away from Christ. We are dead to them all. Is the world trying to draw you away from Christ? Remember you are dead to the forces of this world.
