📜Therefore, let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe *Hebrews 12:28 (ESV)*
📋Worship is our acknowledgement of God in a manner acceptable to him. Worship therefore requires a wholehearted dependence upon the Lord Jesus Christ. The English word ‘worship’ means ‘worthship’ and denotes the worthiness of a person receiving the special honour on account of worth. Worship and service are presented to us as being virtually the same. Worship is rejoicing in all that God is, and giving him glory, i.e. ascribing to him the things that rightly belong to him, such as glory, honour, power, salvation, and thanksgiving (Revelation 4:9; 11:1,7). Worship can be simply that of the individual (Genesis 24:26), but the emphasis is more generally upon corporate worship (Psalm. 42:4). If worship is the same as service, then any service we offer in the house of God is worship. When we sweep the chapel, play musical instruments, record the Church accounts, read the scriptures or just sit down to participate in the Sunday Church service, we are worshipping the Lord. Unfortunately, many of us see the time for “praises and worship” alone as worship time. Aside this period, many walk in and out of Church without any reverence. Many play games on their phones while others chat gleefully among themselves during Church service when we are worshipping God. Many of us have taken away the reverence that comes along with worship. How are you worshipping the Lord as a Christian?
