📜So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord *Genesis 13: 14-15 (RSV)*
📋We often think that our geographical location determines our prosperity. We therefore, struggle to travel from one place to the other in search of greener pastures. However, today’s focus text tells us that Abram attracted the presence of the Lord even in the wilderness. He made an altar and called God’s presence after Lot separated himself believing that he chose the best environment. After he offered sacrifices to God on the altar, God’s presence descended and he renewed the covenant he made to Abram before he left his father’s house years ago. There is the need to create the presence of God in every location we find ourselves in this world. Moses also knew this secret of the importance of God’s presence. When the disobedience of the Israelites compelled God to restrain his decision to go ahead of them to Canaan, Moses said; “If Your presence does not go with me, do not carry us up from here” (Exodus 33:15). His presence means a lot because it assures us of his divine direction. How do you value his presence and how are you attracting his presence?
