*📖PRIDE*
👉(Reading: Isaiah 2:1-11)

📜Proud men will be brought low; arrogant men will be humiliated; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. For the Lord of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up *Isaiah 2:11-12 (NLT)*
📋Pride in all forms is abhorred by the Lord. Pride is dangerous because, as the Scripture says, pride goes before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). It is pride that caused the devil to fall. People who are proud are boastful. Jeremiah admonished that if we must boast at all, we should boast that we know God. Even our boast in God must not amount to arrogance. Our boast in the Lord must rather bring believers and unbelievers closer to God. Unfortunately, today, pride has consumed us Christians. People receive spiritual gifts and behave as if they got it by their own merit. The Prophet Isaiah in today’s text, was warning the Israelites against pride. They forsook the Lord and took pride in their idols, wealth and foreign allies, but God told them that they will be humiliated. God is calling for humility instead of pride. God himself exhibited humility when he died that shameful death on the cross for us. We therefore have no reason to be proud. Those who are closer to God are the humblest. On the other hand, those who are far away from God are the most boastful. Indeed, it is said that empty barrels make the most noise. Do you harbour pride in your heart? Humble yourself.
