*📖THE POWER OF CONFESSION*

👉(Reading: 2 Samuel 12:1-14)

🗓Tuesday, August 11

📜Because of what you have done, I, the Lord will cause your own household to rebel against you, I will give your wives to another man, and he will go to bed with them in public view…You did it secretly, but I will do this to you openly… Then David confessed to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord”. Nathan replied…the Lord has forgiven you, and you won’t die… your child will die *2 Samuel 12:11-14 (NLT)*

📋A year passed and David had been insensitive to his sins. The prophet Nathan confronted David. David confessed, “I have sinned against the Lord” (v.13). Though his confession was the first step in restoring his relationship with God and receiving his mercy, it couldn’t change the consequences: Firstly, murder was a constant threat in David’s family (2 Samuel 13:26-30, 18:14-15); secondly, his household rebelled against him (2 Samuel 15:13); thirdly, his wives were given to another in public view (2 Samuel 16:20-23); finally, his first child by Bathsheba died (12:18). When God forgives us and restores our relationship with him, he doesn’t eliminate all the consequences. Never forget that sin can set into motion events with irreversible consequences. Confession of our sin should be accompanied by genuine repentance. When the realization came to David when confronted by Nathan, he said, “I have sinned against the Lord”. No matter how terribly you have sinned, you can pour out your heart to God and seek his forgiveness as David did (Psalm 51).
