📜Tell Archippus: ‘See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord *Colossians 4:17 (NIV)*
📋We all, as Christians, have a ministry to fulfil. When Christ calls us, he calls us into a specific ministry—a ministry of service, evangelism, encouragement, intercession, etc. We must identify and know our callings. We can know our callings through reading the word of God, prayer, revelation or an inner voice that speaks to us. Our love and interest in a particular area of life can also be a signpost directing us to our calling. It is however not enough to know our calling. What is important is to faithfully discharge those duties to the glory of God. There were some who started their ministry very well but didn’t end well. They often abandon their ministries out of laziness or merely being jealous of the calling of others. God is not pleased with those who start well but end badly. That is why he has given us the Holy Spirit to be with us throughout the journey. In today’s text, Paul was exhorting a man called Archippus—obviously one of his fellow ministry workers to endeavour to fulfill his ministry. We are not told what his ministry was but probably he might have been relaxing on the duties given him due to some challenges. Are you under pressure to abandon your ministry?
