📜God gave these four men knowledge, wisdom, and the ability to understand all kinds of literature. Daniel could also understand all kinds of visions and dreams *Daniel1:17 (GNB)*
📋Beyond learning, wisdom is God-given. The Hebrew boys Shadrach, Meshack, Abednego as well as Daniel showed an uncommon level of intelligence as they passed through the Babylonian educational system; their wisdom amazed the Babylonians. Their secret was how they kept their Hebrew discipline in the midst of the attempt by the Babylonians to change their thinking and lives into their cultural mould. They refused to eat the rich Babylonian food. They rather kept the Jewish Kosher law of eating vegetables instead of enjoying the polluted meats of Babylon. The four young men knew how to depend on heaven for insight and guidance. True disciples of God’s Kingdom hold to the values that give them their being. They are careful never to compromise their stand as the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The world around us since the days of old has been working hard to change our allegiance to God, by offering us its idols covered with pleasures to entice us away from our Holy God. I have learnt to follow Daniel and his friends whose heart is set on heaven rather than this temporal earth. Are you also following heaven’s ideals or worldly ideas? Remain connected to heaven and grow in wisdom.
