*📖DO YOU ACKNOWLEDGE HIM?*

📜When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God! *Matthew 27:54 (ESV)*
📋After nailing Jesus to the cross for an offence he did not commit, the soldiers finally realised that he is indeed the Son of God. It is interesting to note that those who recognised his Sonship were Romans soldiers; those who did not share in the faith of Israel. The term Son of God refers to the status of Jesus as the divine Son of God the Father, thus the Messiah and King of Israel (Psalm 2:7). Jesus’ own people refused to acknowledge him as the messiah. Even while on the cross they taunted him. “And those who passed by derided him, saying, “You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross” (Matthew 27:29-40). But as Jesus died and the soldiers saw what happened, they changed their mind. They saw the curtain of the temple split into two, the earth shook and the dead resurrected. They have executed many criminals but saw that of Jesus as unique. How do you know Jesus? You might be going to Church but have not yet recognised him as the King and the Messiah who came to save us from our sins. Acknowledge and surrender to him now before it’s too late.
