The religion of Peace

The word Islam means peace and submission . Muslims greet each other by saying 'Salaam alaykum' meaning 'peace be upon you'. Like the majority of followers of other faiths, the majority of Muslims believe in seeking a just and peaceful world.Religion, however, can play an important role in peace-making and conflict prevention and resolution. Religion connects with peace in four major ways: The ideas of human dignity and the common humanity of all, derived from the notion that all are created in the image of the Divine, are foundational to true peace.Islamist Sayyid Qutb wrote that Islam is the religion of peace in the sense of submitting all of mankind to Allah.
