Have a habit of procrastinating work? Stop it, Right Now
How many tasks have you not done yet? How much work have you not finished? We are often bothered with this bad habit of procrastination. In fact, only those who are able to resist the temptation to procrastinate will achieve success more quickly.
Always remember that you have a lot of work to do — it's not just that one thing you're procrastinating on:
You know for sure that the job you're procrastinating isn't the only thing that has to be done. There are still many important things you have to do besides your homework, in addition to college assignments, besides office work. Always remind yourself that if you don't get one thing done right away, you can't do anything worthwhile. Do not waste your time! Do what you can right now.
Make a list of the things you must do:
Make a list of notes about everything you will do, whether you like it or not. Make the order according to the priority scale of the most urgent and important. Paste those notes in visible places: on your smartphone, your diary, sticky notes on your desk, and so on.
Make your to-do list as detailed as possible:
If the to-do list wasn't helpful enough for you, you should revise the list into more details. The more detailed the list, the better. Immediately mark the things you've done, before moving on to the next little thing. This is repeated until the target of achieving your work is completed.
Reduce the urge to do less important things:
Admit it: you're procrastinating because you don't like the job you're doing, right? But what can you do, this is your responsibility now. So like it or not you have to do it. Don't get stuck in procrastinating and or even shifting focus to other work that is less important or even not important at all. Remember your final destination, do your duty.
Remember the fun things you can do after your job is done:
Give yourself credit. When you manage not to procrastinate on a job, there's nothing wrong with giving yourself a 'gift'. It doesn't have to be big or expensive. Eat at your favorite meatball place, go for a walk around town with your friends or lover, buy a shirt or two: for sure, always give a small appreciation for every target you achieve.
Remember: when your task is complete, you will achieve success and feel happy:
Focus on your ultimate goal
Think about the ultimate goal that you will achieve when your task is completed. Stick it in your mind. Do you want to lose the opportunity to reach that goal because of your current feeling of laziness? Do you want to see your other friends have a better quality of life while you are just stuck in your narrow and undeveloped sphere? Remember that an achievement requires sacrifice. No pain, no gain.
“Punish” yourself when you neglect to do your duty:
There are times when you fail to achieve or carry out the plans you made earlier. If this happens, give yourself a small punishment. I don't mean to torture yourself, but you shouldn't get used to not doing what is your duty and responsibility. These small penalties could be like cutting hours online on your social media, delaying buying things you like or canceling plans to go out with your friends. A little bit of punishment is necessary to further discipline you to do the things that matter.
If you have a problem, don't hesitate to ask for help:
Sometimes we feel like we've done everything we can. But what we have achieved is still at the same level. Maybe you have to admit that you need someone else's help. Other people may offer different perspectives on solving your problem, due to their different skills, backgrounds, and characters. But don't forget that your request for help may be rejected by the person you want. Keep the spirit: if you keep working hard and diligently trying, believe that help will always come from various ways.
Share your dreams and goals with others:
Tell the things you want most to your close friends, relatives, or anyone you can trust. By doing this, you can feel more responsible for your desires and dreams, and motivated to concentrate more on the tasks that you need to complete in order to make those desires and dreams come true.
The tips above will not work if you just read it. Do it from now on.
