Growing up is not an option, it's a journey
Age, something that will always increase and can never decrease. Something that is said to be a benchmark for a person's maturity in life. However, getting older does not mean maturity is also increasing. Sometimes there are times when the age of maturity slowly decreases. Why is that? Don't we want to grow up fast when we are small?
Well, most of the time when we were kids we wanted to be adults. Then we see how adults live. They live freely according to their will. They have money to buy anything they want. Their appearance looks good with a variety of clothes models. They have jobs that do not require them to study all subjects like in school. They can live freely and can go anywhere without fear of someone scolding them. Those are some of the things that make our childhood envious of adults.
But the fact is when we grow up we just realize it. Growing up is not as easy as we think. It's true that we have money and can buy what we want, but unfortunately our needs are not always what we want. Many needs that must be met in addition to something we want. As adults we learn to prioritize which needs we really need, unlike when we were small where our daily needs were met by our parents. Buying something we want sometimes have to think first, is this important? Is this useful? Is this useful? If not, it's better not to buy it.
The appearance of adults looks good because there are many models of adult clothes. It is undeniable that the fashion world today is very trendy. Many models of clothing that make us look cool when seen by many people. But to be honest when we are at home, without many people we just want to wear comfortable clothes, don't care about the model, don't care about fashion where it makes us comfortable, it's comfortable to wear.
We can freely go wherever we want without anyone forbidding us. We can take a vacation to the place we want to visit. But behind that, when we're done with the daily routines full of the complexities of the adult world all we need is rest. We just need a rest to sleep peacefully. Adults rarely feel such a thing as a peaceful sleep in the midst of the complexities of their daily routines.
As adults we do not need to learn all the subjects like when we were in school. We only need to focus on one area of our work. But believe me, work is a source of frustration that we experience as adults. Chased by a pile of work deadlines. Being scolded by superiors If our work is not as expected. We must also be prepared to accept protests and criticisms from those around us. The protests and criticisms we receive will vary, can be constructive and can bring us down. It depends on how we take it.
The most important thing when we become adults we become someone who thinks. When we were young we didn't have to think about what other people said. If there are people who vilify us, then at that time we act either to reply to their words or cry and complain to our parents. When we grow up we can't do things like that. There will be a lot of talk about us both up front and behind.
And when we know someone is talking about us badly, our choices are 2 to reply or just be silent.
But before that of course we will think first. Both have the same risk. If we reply to them we will only add to the list of people who do not like us. If we are just silent, of course it is ourselves who are sick. We can only hold it in our hearts and it can have a bad impact on our psychological condition. Especially if we have to pretend to be nice in front of people who say bad things about us. So believe me being an adult is very complicated.
Sometimes there are times when we long for a childhood that we think is more free and fun. If we may choose there are times when we want to go back in time. But even so, becoming an adult is not an option but a journey. Everyone will experience it and no one can avoid it.
Becoming an adult is not based on age but rather a process. The name of the process does not have to go straight, there will be twists and turns or obstacles while undergoing it. All we do is live the best we can. One thing we can learn from being an adult is responsibility. We will feel satisfaction in ourselves if we can carry out these responsibilities well.
