Don't rush to conclusions, just because you've read the cover
Some time ago, a Tiktok video went viral about a man criticizing an electronic brand store that dominates the market in a mall. The video shows a man with a simple or casual appearance entering the store. The man explained that with that look he was not getting good service.
In short, it shows that the man in plain clothes ended up buying one of the brand's newest mobile phones, at a price that must have been fantastic. Even though this video immediately received a response in the form of a rebuttal from the store, and regardless of the truth of the video, which was quickly circulated, we can learn something from this incident. We can learn that it would be more fun if life could be free from the disease of assumptions. Even if it can't be 100 percent released, at least starting to be minimized it will be better.
Why? Because in fact, something that is visible may not necessarily explain the entire contents. Yes, in fact something that seems bad is not necessarily bad overall, or vice versa, something that seems good is also not necessarily good overall. So, hold on to assuming everything, whether about a certain person, thing, or circumstance, before looking into it or even studying it more carefully and thoroughly.
For assumptions about someone, sometimes we never know anything about the people around us, even those closest to us, if we are not intensely in a relationship or communication.
We may have or have made conclusions, assumptions about someone who seems unable or worthy to be in our circle. For example, because that person cannot follow the style of dress, socialize, talk, or get along like we do. We think that these people are unlikely to be cool and profitable for us.
So from all the things that can be seen and can be assumed that we finally take a subjective decision. We make the decision to start quietly away from it and even just leave it. Then, usually in the process of staying away from this will begin to emerge some facts that contradict all the assumptions that we can conclude. Apparently, that person is able to do something beyond the visible appearance, which we have assumed from the inside.
For example, it turns out that someone has a hidden talent, has a famous and viral Tiktok or Youtube account, comes from a famous family in his hometown, is a writer, illustrator, or what else? All of this may be a fact that we see too late because it has already been covered by all the assumptions that explode in our minds, which originate from the fleeting appearance seen by our physical eyes.
Yes, it's the same as the male tiktok video narration at the beginning of this article, where he who said that he was ignored when he entered a well-known electronic brand store because of his appearance, was finally able to buy one of the brand's newest products. And it turns out that the man is a businessman.
Even though it was stated by the store via CCTV footage that they welcomed the man well, there must still be an assumption that arose among the employees at the store when the man with the ridiculous appearance started to walk into their store. And then their assumptions were answered by the fact that the man came out with a bag filled with their newest product.
Instead, be careful with assumptions. If that assumption comes to our mind, choose to brush it off and always try to stay kind. Treat everyone well as we also want to be treated well by the people around us, regardless of the outward appearance.
