COVID-19 Pandemic has been recognized as one of the most deadliest pandemic ever happened in the world's history. And it brought different changes in the lives of many people around the world.
"The community closes at eight in the evening"
A lot of us are directed to wear face masks wherever we go. Classes for all levels had been cancelled. Most of the crowded, go-to establishments such as malls and recreational centers were ordered to close. Road operations and public transportation services were suspended. Many public and private institutions were discouraged to do its normal operations, suggested to rather work-from-home. Many people shut their doors for the news says "stay home, save lives". The lockdown happened in many parts of our country. The government ordered to practice social distancing whenever we go out, at least one meter away from any other person. Also many local government units presented new market schedule for every barangays, established to lessen any physical contact among individuals. There has been mass confusion, rage, fear all the way to the day when they began to hear of new pandemic virus, then named COVID-19.
The world stopped. We encounter and witness the different faces of pandemic. This become the new normal, but how long can the world get through this?
As of the moment, this pandemic has appeared to be one of the most alarming health crisis that our country had ever encountered. Many people, either ordinary or professional one are greatly affected. In education, both teachers and students are having difficulty in adjusting and adapting in the new normal set of education. In the world of business, there are a lot of business gone bankrupt and some are forced to be closed for health purposes. This really become a huge challenge for every businessman. Meanwhile, in the world of politics, politician's efforts seemed to be very inadequate to resolve this problem and to provide the needs and concerns of every citizens. With this, they are being criticized specifically in various social media platforms.
Talking about social media, in the world of online business, and for people whose having an online business, this pandemic had become their advantage from the others. In this time of pandemic, online businesses are indeed helpful as these served as the first and most common source of income by many people since almost all forms of communications, interactions and transactions are done online. But then again, of all the alternative ways that people can do just to survive this pandemic, these are still not enough to fill the gap that the normal situation has given us before.
Normal living these days is a routine for everyone who goes in and out of their houses. The novel coronavirus can live up to three days on surfaces and can easily be transmitted from person to person. You can imagine the emerging terror in everyone, including me, who comes out of my home just to do grocery shopping because this time it is not normal to go outside; for being outside likely means exposure to the disease-causing virus. It is in the news, if you went out, you cannot directly head straight inside your house. It is either you take a bath first or disinfect with alcohols-- every inch, wash your hands with a bar soup for at least twenty seconds, sanitize the things you brought and bought outside, immediately take take-off and wash clothes worn outside and wash away any trace of it. This is what me and my family literally do. This recurring customary is most likely the same to everybody.
If buying things outside sounds terrifying nowadays, you can probably tell how hard the job is for everyone else on the field. The doctors, nurses, police force and many other task force groups were put in frontline, sporting the new term for modern day heroes--the front liners.
As days go by, with us being directed to stay home, the general populace is gradually tracing some catastrophic situations such as no work, no play, and unemployment which could mean living in a hand-to-mouth existence. Through the government and private institutions pledged and offered help to feed the needy, the current situational crisis is for long-term and may bring unforseen circumstances. That being said is a true challenge for everyone to come up with new life-skills to keep on living with the presence of this pandemic.
On the brighter side, the pandemic also taught us myriad of lessons about life. How important it is to make time for your family, to have bonding time with them and talk about each other's feelings and emotions. The parents being able to check their child's current state and mental health during this pandemic is also one important thing. This pandemic has brought awareness about practicing better hygiene. People are now aware of how important is to keep cleanliness to themselves. We now always observe the hygienic deeds like covering our mouths when we cough and sanitizing our hands after touching objects or things.
The new normal is keeping people to stay at home to reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission from humans to humans. Not until these vaccines can cure all the people who are infected by this virus, everything may never turn to what exactly they were before. The only things that we could do right now are to help ourselves and the front liners to lessen the spread of this disease-causing virus, to understand and obey the protocols of the government and of our medical practitioners.
Stay inside. Be safe and well. Make yourself in line with the better purpose, so you can go or just stay home when the "community opens at five in the morning, the next day."
In conclusion, this pandemic is undeniably become a big challenge for many people all over the world. This tested their faith, their limitations as a person, and their passion and determination to still strive for the better while battling to this pandemic. For many, this is an occlusion or hindrance in pursuing their dreams and aspirations in life. But for some, this pandemic only served as a wake up call and realization that life is really difficult to deal with, and in order to get through life challenges, one must have faith, positive mentality and self-assertion for at the end of the day this is not only a fight between us and the pandemic but also a battle between us and ourselves.
"This pandemic really brought different changes to our lives (negatives and positives), but always remember to look at the brighter side for tomorrow will be better."
