Mata Hari: The story of a dream come true behind the identity of a mighty spy

As a formidable spy for the First World War, Mother Harry is still a household name. He was executed in the firing squad for spying against France for Germany a hundred years ago today, in 1917. Listing the most terrifying spies in the history of the world, his name comes first. What a wonderful way to screw people over, such as being a spy in the reckless world of espionage. Was Mother Harry really such a terrible man? Did the result of the First World War change because of his espionage? Let's try to find out what Mother Harry did, what her spy life was like, what this man dreamed of, why she died in a cruel trial.

Margareta was born in Girtruida district on August 6, 18. His father was a hat seller, but he was accustomed to flashy clothes and arrogant moves. Although of Frisian and North Germanic blood, Margaret's black hair, brown eyes, and olive-colored complexion would have been mistaken for semi-Indian or semi-Indonesian.

Margaret was on her father's business at the age of thirteen. With that came the separation of parents. Margaret's father then began to show his temper and moved away from his daughter. His mother died before he was fifteen. At that age, Margareta, a shy but lively young woman five feet nine inches tall, began to realize little by little that she was becoming very attractive and lustful to men. Even the headmaster of her school fell in love with her. At the age of eighteen, he was sent to live with relatives in The Hague.

Going there, his mind was not fixed. Margareta was becoming restless with unaccustomedness. At that time he sat down and did one thing. Replies to an ad in a local newspaper. And that was a 'I want a bride' ad that was given by the bride herself. "Captain of the Indies army, on vacation in Holland, looking for a bride like mind" was the language of the advertisement. Margareta met that Captain Rudolf McLeod, and three months later they were married. For the next seven years they were in the then Dutch East Indies, in what is now Indonesia. Marital life became unbearable for Margaret. Her two children were poisoned by a local servant, and her eldest son died. And McLeod's job was to deal violently with Margaret on a daily basis. In 1902 he was finally forced to break up, having already returned to Holland. McLeod forcibly kept their little girl to himself.

After marriage, mother Harry with husband

Margareta was 26 at the time and moved to Paris. Her new life began as a model for artists. Couldn't last long, went back to Holland. There he met Henry du Marguerite, a French diplomat. Margareta returned to Paris with him, as his mistress. This is the beginning of the famous period of his life as a dancer. Marguerite introduced him to various palaces in Paris as a sacred priest from a temple on the banks of the Ganges, whose medium of worship is dance. Margareta brought in her dance the gestures and charming coins seen in Indonesia. Added a short-lived dance by unveiling the veil which looked as if it was a ritual of worship. Margareta became very popular. This time she took a new name - Mata Hari. In the local language of Indonesia which means ‘light of dawn’.

From 1905 until the outbreak of World War I in 1914, Mother Harry enjoyed the status of a great celebrity. In Madrid, Milan, Monte Carlo and Paris he was absolutely revered. Mother Harry sometimes danced in Sicilian theaters or in the palaces of the aristocracy. Her name was then pronounced from house to house, as she was the first and proverbial performer of short-lived dance in Europe, most importantly, the most adored name of many famous men of that era was Mata Hari.

From French diplomats to German princes, Mother Harry's dream was alive. Her true friends were very few, and for these eleven years Marguerite was the closest to Mother Harry. At the root of her fascination was her charming and fancy dance talent. She took nudity to the stage of art, her dance coins in the guise of religious worship were captivating.

In the meantime he went to Berlin. While dancing in the metropolis, Mata Harry arranged to cover up the allegation of rudeness against her by colluding with a police officer. This small incident was largely responsible for the terrible consequences in his later life.

In August, at the start of World War I, Mother Harry had the opportunity to return to her homeland, Holland. But he wanted to stay in Paris, and as a result, the Germans seized his bank account, gold and even clothing. Poor mother Harry returned to Holland.

At the age of 36, she suddenly met an old lover. The boyfriend was an aristocratic baron, leaving his family in Amsterdam and taking Mother Harry to a luxurious home in The Hague. If she had lived in that house during the entire war, Mother Hari might have had a small place in some corner of history as a pioneer of short-lived dance. But what history has determined is a widely spoken but painful consequence, if it is bound there.

Mother Harry was annoyed to be alone for so long and only to be with that baron. At Christmas 1915, he traveled to Paris for three weeks. His arrogant and self-centered nature undermined the natural feeling that a popular and well-known face like Mother Harry would be under surveillance wherever he went at a time when war was changing the whole of Europe. Then he went on a trip to England. There, British intelligence began to monitor his movements. They found out that Mother Harry had gone to Berlin and had an affair with a German police officer. From there, they captured Mother Harry, a German agent, and accordingly sent information to France.

A few months later, Mother Harry returned to Paris. He was followed by two police inspectors in civilian clothes who found no evidence of his involvement in the espionage. Mother Harry spent six months in the besieged city, ignoring the surveillance. And the reason for staying here for these six months was an event that could happen in the life of a barbarian like her, something she couldn’t even imagine. He fell in love.

In Paris, Mother Harry met Vladimir du Masloff, a 21-year-old Russian captain serving in the French army. The two fell in love, but Masalof had to return to the battlefield quickly. There his left eye was damaged by a terrible German mustard gas attack. This war-wounded young mother gave birth to a great Maya in Harry's mind. To that Dutch baron

He spent most of the money he got from buying good food for Masloff or paying off his gambling debts.

The love vision of these two was different. Mata Hari was in her forties when she left the life of a dancer. It goes without saying that there is no possibility of marrying an aristocratic lord. But he won the heart of a handsome officer who was responsible for the deaths of at least a hundred German soldiers on the battlefield. Meanwhile, Masalof knew that his lover was no more, but mother Hari is a name! A fantasy! A war-wounded soldier whose next job is to join a trench-digging team, where he is unlikely to survive another five months, finds not only Mother Harry as a lover, but also a friend who has been drenched in moisture. Little did she realize that the love affair between the two was trapping Mother Harry in a terrible future.

The incident began when Masalof was admitted to a hospital in Vittel, very close to the battlefield, and Mother Harry wanted to see him. There was a need to show special side to get there. Growing up, he met Giorgi Landu. Capt. Giorgi Landu, a short-haired, carefully trimmed beard, sophisticated mustache and wavy-haired intelligence officer, was a French captain. He told Mother Harry at his first meeting in August 1918 that he had received information from the British that Mata Harry was a German spy.

Giorgi Landu

Landu thought, this is an opportunity! If Mother Harry is a true German spy, she may be offered the role of a double agent instead of a French spy. And if he is not a German spy, then the job will be easier. In any case, the French intelligence officer Landou was interested in making him a French spy.

In the course of the discussion, therefore, Landu proposed to Mother Harry to spy for France on the basis of her friendship with various celebrities she had developed over the years. Mother Harry said she would consider if the price was reasonable. That's when Landu gave him a special pass to go to that hospital in Vittel. Mother Harry may have had the opportunity to come in contact with her boyfriend, but she didn't know she had taken the death warrant.

Vittel near Landur was the first test for Mother Harry. If he really met her just out of love for Masaloff and did not gather any military information from her, then it would be understood that he would be dealt with. He must be able to convince the Germans with his German aristocracy and his German language skills that he is one of them, or if the information given by the British is correct, he is still one of them. With this in mind, Landu began to prepare a plan.

Police reported that Mother Harry did nothing suspicious during the one week she spent with Masaloff. So when he returned to Paris from Vital, Landu officially hired him as a French spy. Mother Harry told Landu directly that she was going to do this job just for the money because she loves Masloff and is unable to earn because she was wounded in the war. But he wants to be rich enough to have a family with Masloff. Mother Harry was given her first assignment as a spy in Belgium.

The beginning is the life of the spy mother Harry. Is the story of blaming Mother Harry's espionage for the deaths of 50,000 soldiers in World War I true, or is it just a myth to trap the dreamy woman's survival?
